There's no better options out there. He is not automatic anymore but he is still damn good. You keep it.

Oh yes, I think his field goal range is reduced by 5 yards. He use to knock it 52, 53 yards with ease now his target line is 47.

And Tucker did some shanking of his own when the Ratbirds squared off against the Chargers.

Last year Gost was 25-27 inside of 50 and 49/50 for XPs. He had a great year.

Hes 34. Age and leg strength are the concern. Not performance.

Wow, 34. I feel like he just replaced AV a few years ago. But then again....

Tell me about it.

My kids have played in an indoor soccer facility owned by fmr Pats K John Smith. I remember when he played for God's Sake.

Keep him. But sign a guy like Robbie Gould (Pending he's available) for the SB. I still can't believe BB didn't go for it on 4th and inches. There were very good odds of picking it up.

No way he stays at the same price. Third highest paid kicker but not the third best kicker in the league.

Best is that we'll sign him to a 3 yr contract with a 2019 cap of about $3M (probably $5M AAV). Otherwise, we will franchise him as we did for Vinatieri (and maybe again in 2020 as we did then).

Maybe Belichick is wrong is his approach of valuing Ster's much higher than others in the league.
A reliable kicker (especially a non-dome) kicker is extremely difficult to find and well worth $5M a year.

The FG was the right move, as Brady recognized right away. If Ghost makes it, game over. If he misses, Goff has 1 minute and 0 TOs to get a TD to tie the game. The odds of us winning were much better with the FG attempt.

Dome available if he wants to go full AV.

Amazes me the amount of flack gost (87% career Kicker, over 90% in 5 seasons here) gets on this board. Yeah he’s not as accurate as tucker but that’s true for every kicker in nfl history, even vinatieri.

Honestly at this point in his career if he wants to extend it out into his 40s a dome team is the way to go.

3 years $9m total. Over that I think the money is better spent elsewhere. He’s been a great Patriot but he is on the decline.

Also worth noting Vinatieri was released at the age of 33. Gostkowski is 34...it’ll be interesting to see what Bill does.

His resume looks pretty good (emphasis added):

Gostkowski, who played both college football and baseball for the University of Memphis, is the most accurate kicker in Patriots history, and, as of the end of the 2018 season, the third-most accurate kicker in NFL history.[3] He is also a consistent and prolific scorer: he is only the second player in NFL history to score 500 points in his first four seasons in the league, and the first to score 1,000 points in his first eight seasons in the league (despite missing half the 2010 season with a leg injury). Gostkowski also holds the record for highest average points per game scored over a career (8.75 points per game as of the end of the 2015 season), and is the first player since the AFL-NFL merger to lead the league in scoring in more than two consecutive seasons (2012–2015; he also led the league in scoring in 2008). In 2014, he became the Patriots' all-time leading scorer, surpassing Adam Vinatieri. As of 2016, he is also the Patriots' all-time leader in field goals, and holds the NFL record for consecutive extra points with 479 (523 including postseason).[4]

I think he was quoted with something along the lines of “it takes a miss to make me calm down.” That’s kind of a troubling thing to say... but it does seem to hold up. He’s made his fair share of misses but as far as I can recall he’s always been straight money for the rest of the game after a miss.
I feel like you are misquoting him.

I'm probably in the minority and yes he's missed his share of kicks like in the last two Super Bowls but I hope they find a way to keep him.

I don't think they will though.
i doubt he is going anywhere. Kicking across the NFL has been atrocious, so he is still a top kicker IMO.
