How disappointed would have been with a 5-4 SB record

  • I truly, absolutely don’t care. Missing out on 6 is my only disappointment.

The last two weeks (or maybe even beyond that) I tried to avoid the thought of a second straight SB loss and a 5-4 record under BB/Brady.

Logically I know that it’s kind of stupid. 5 wins is 5 wins. 4 losses in SBs are still 4 conference championships. NINE Super Bowl appearances is incredible. But the 5-4 potential ate at the back of my mind more than I’d like to admit. While I don’t care what haters and hot take artists say, that record would just seem to unjust for a team that has dominated so much for this long. As for legacy, there was not much question that 6-3 sounds almost infinitely better than 5-4 for Super Bowl success. The idea that we have the greatest big game coach and clutchest QB of all-time, paired with a 5-4 record in the biggest game?

Now that the game is over I can rest easily, but I admit it probably bothered me more than it should have. You?

They had already exceeded my expectations ... the rest was gravy.
After they won #4 I was satisfied ... shut that deflate talk right down.

The only part of it that mattered to me 'big picture' was you can't get to 7 without winning 6. Time to lace em up and shut up those pathetic Squeeler fans once and for all.

Oh, and RLKAG (p2)

Im a numbers guy. I really want Brady to finish his career with a 70% winning percentage in the Super Bowl.

Losing last night wouldve killed that prospect, so I was eager for the win in that regard.

I think Brady should win 1 more and call it quits...7 out of 10

One day maybe I will meet someone who can make a logical argument for why 5-4 is worse than 5-3 or 5-0. Reaching the SB is better than not getting there. Getting there 9 times is more impressive than only 5 times. If the numbers of wins are the same then the tiebreaker clearly goes to the person who went there more often (i.e. won more games in the postseason).

Was content after winning the 5th. That is until the idea of losing back to back Super Bowls happened.. Going by that context it would have made losing this one much harder.

Couldn’t ask for anything else, but I do feel like they’ll atleast make one more Super Bowl before the BB/TB era is done. Not sure one way or another past that. Just seems like with 2-3 more contending years it’s within reason to atleast make the big game.

Losing would have taken away my wondering how is mr Kraft going to display banner #6.
And Ray Lewis was in Atlanta partying again, but didn’t kill a guy this time, or not.

I really wanted #6 and the only way to get it was to risk losing a SB, so it didn’t bother me at all.

I was asked a similar question during the game .. I told them everything after the Seahawks win has been a cherry on top. Getting that 10 year monkey off our back vs the Seahawks was huge, especially after losing 2x to EFM.

WHY!!!!!

6-3 sounds good to me.

Lebron is what, 3-7 in the finals and will still go down as the greatest player when all is said and done.

I could say that at that point win or lose we were playing with house money and shouldn’t have been there but I’d be lying to myself. To go into KC and win in the fashion we did, to come back and lose two weeks later would’ve stung pretty bad.

Nothing to wonder about there - when they rebuilt the banner display to make room for the 5th, they intentionally left a lot of space for more - conceivably you could fit 11 banners in the whole area including the walls where they had been hung when there were 4.
