B.G.C. 2019 NFL Draft/Patriot-Type Players Thread

Whew i remember watching this. What a snatch. Just ripped the hell outta him. Man thats exactly what you need & wanna see. Technique + A/A w 0 hesitation.

W/e we do we're in great in a great position. We're the smartest, most creative, efficient f/o in the league. By far. Find a way to keep Brown, Flowers & extend Thuney. Asking a lot but these are core guys in the prime of the careers. I wouldn't over pay a ton, no more than 15 more Flowers & the same approach for Brown but get aggressive.

Then you can literally do w/e you want draft night. If someone falls, you can go get them at 15-20 pretty easy w what we have but Im really liking stay put & take a really talented player. One of the 3 TE's, Thompson, Simmons? W/e it is we could trade up using a 3rd or both, get another impact player early 2 or again stay put & see what happens.

We're in great shape & I fully expect us to make some moves. I really do. Whether its getting a 2020 1st, which should be a big priority or moving around & getting some prospects in this draft we have a ton of ammo.

@BaconGrundleCandy might feel differently, but I think he's an ideal RB for today's game. In fact, I think he's a similar type of player to Todd Gurley, although not quite as fast. He lacks a ton of film / reps. Anderson doesn't have the same lateral suddenness that Gurley has, but he has similar power and urgency in his play. Good pass catcher. I'd like to see him paired up with Michel long term if we move on from Burkhead. Everything depends on the medicals and how far he falls in terms of value.
See I dont Gurley but a Foster, Shady type. He was a special player b4 injury though. You take a shot late?

I am really interested to see what love and baker run. The tape is not flattering as far as their speed goes.
I think everyone is. Baker could be a lottery pick if he test vg & Love could be a top 40 guy but i think Loves tape will leave doubt in too many peoples minds tbh. Love both guy. Esp Baker hes a PTP guy if there ever was one.

This will absolutely show up in my report on JP. Look at the first 2 plays.
1) Nice step but he avoids the strike & is able to generate power through his hips to really turn that corner. Took the most efficient way to the QB there. Really nice play.
2)Better burst but again check out the way he can flip his hips & get that corner.

That type of flexibility & burst is the difference between double digit sacks & a routinely 7-8 sack player. Simply put OL'm cant stop that every down as opposed to guys that are coming right at you.

Polite has some nice tools in his bag. Once he gets stronger & refines in a few areas he could be a monster.

Get ready for the Von Miller comps if he tests well. I'm not sure he's quite at that level, but I can see the appeal of the pass rush ability. So explosive.

Im a DB & was abt to write a "mini-Mack". Just terrible.

Hes really good though. Run defense needs work but as a pass rusher hes top 2-4 easy in this class. He'll be very hard to defend.

Dont think he last past GB

Great thread on Murphy & nails him imo. Murphy played zone a ton in college & absolutely looks the part there. From him patience, awareness, eyes & ability to break, he looks like a fantastic future zone defender.
Like i said they played C3 Cloud a ton up there but his man traits are real & tangible. I try not to ignore the obvious & his attitude is something i notice from the jump. Doesn't back down at all. Stands his ground, doesn't give any room if at all. Crock mentions his ability to stay sq but his footwork & transition are so good. "Feet b4 hands" @eric_crocker says in one clip.
Murphy's physicality shows up all over the place. Look hes a small guy so hes going to take calculated shots & whif on occasion but again his want to, attitude is right. Doesn't take off any plays. Shows up in run support.
Murphy is the guy that not only makes plays but forces the action elsewhere for others to feast & makes the QB do things that hes not comfortable w.
I brought him long before the year & it looks like I was a lil too low back then.

Nah, not embarrassing. A lot of those players are still top guys. You gotta start somewhere.
Bit dramatic maybe haha but thought i should've had a few guys higher but it was more of a who's, who of top guys.

Receving options may be more of a problem that i thought... after this 1st half

We have another Super Bowl!

I’m honestly not sure what our biggest need is after last night -

Our WR corps need an overhaul as they cannot beat man coverage expect Jules and Gronk.

I’m not sure the best way we would go about this. I’d like to get Hockenson as a Gronk replacement and hopefully we can get some outside WRs

WR/TE group need a youth infusion, way overdue
QB of the future should be rostered ASAP
D-line could use plenty of more talent
D Mac and Chung could use understudies ASAP

WR - we need two outside guys who can play and get separate from man D

TE - Hockenson is the guy we should be looking at. I’d like us to double dip on TEs this year and try and replicate the Gronk and AH days. As that offensive was unstoppable

If Brady is going to play for the next 3 years then it’s a waste of a pick for this year. Next year the QB class is a lot better and has more depth to it. I’d rather take my shot next year at one.

D-Line - depends on if we resign any of our guys. Hopefully Trey Flowers and either Shelton or Brown. But it’s not as high on my list as it was before the playoffs

LB - id still like to get some more speed there for next season.

I like Obi as a possible Chung replacement if he can show enough progress in training camp.

With D-Mac it’s a hard one, and I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the draft that could possibly be like him.

Will have to do so more research on the safety class.

TE duo is optimistic but this is a good TE class, my favorite is Nauta from UGA, Smith from 'Bama too, also some sleepers

42 YO QB is wild, would love to address the future in either Jones, Stidham, or Grier

DL needs talent...Flowers may leave, only DT back will be Brown and Butler, pass rush needs a boost

LB group seems solid/set, wouldn't mind athleticism

Agree on Obi, hopefully that's realistic

You don't replace D Mac in the draft, hopeful he returns

S class isn't great but I like Johnson from Miami, Harris from BC, and Williams from Navy most

I'd love a Smith\Nauta combo. We should be able to get both guys staying put unless Smith has an Engram like combine. Dont think he runs 4.4 but he can fly & has real acceleration. His blocking isnt bad either. Definitely needs work but i think hes very underrated rn. Esp when you consider pro potential, fit, next level.

Whats our thoughts on Antoine Wesley?
Noticed him watching someone else last year. Brad Kelly brought him up early in the year & really likes him. Has him as a top 15 WR I believe.

He's an explosive player at 6'6. You dont see many guys sink their hips like that at that height. Guys that big at that position that dont look the part but he does. Impressive watching him run routes. He does a nice job using his body for fakes in route. Accelerates out of his breaks. I think he needs a good 10lbs on his frame to really do what he does at the next level but I love his game. Supposedly a really nice guy. His teammate can play too.
