Passing of the tourch.

Guys look its not to put shame on the dude, Brady was the best QB to play the game, but I use the past tense, WAS the best. Football is about all 53 players and coaching. If you look at Mahomes he played great in the playoffs, played much better than Brady head to head but his coaching let him down. You guys have to admit that its in a individual sport, if it was then it would be obvious. You put the Hoodie on the Chiefs this year they win by 17 or more. You have a better coached team and its not even close. But outside of Pats fans I think 99% of America can easily see the torch was passed, not as a team but as a individual.
Pat, it’s past your bedtime!

Well you got Mahomes in the big game and lost. Should've taken Tommy..

Mahomes out played Brady and anyone watching the game could tell that easily. The Chiefs were OUTCOACHED by the hoodie. Brady didn't outplay him, the hoodie outplayed reid.

Except for Brady, who won a SB ring.

Clearly statistics are more important to you than titles which, given that you’re a Chiefs fan, isn’t that surprising...

Your treating Brady like its a individual sport not a team sport. If brady was drafted by the dolphins, or bills or countless other teams he would still be good but not physically good enough to win the big one. He was lucky enough to be paired with the best head coach ever. That was his golden ticket.

If you really want a "torch" based on single season stats rather than wins, Matt Ryan took that from Peyton Manning back in 2016. Maybe go to the Falcons board and take it up with them. In the meantime we'll be here with our Super Bowl victories.

True enough but I watched a lot of games that year when Ryan was putting up huge numbers and he was more system quarterback vs making plays, he looked great but not the same. I think we all could agree that Ryan is a above average QB. He never threw 50 TD's

The QB is measured by winning, and by how many points he leads his team to. In both games and by both measures Brady outplayed Mahomes, and no “!torch” is ever passed until it is taken away by winning. By your definition the Jets get the torch passed to them twice a year every year. Congratulations on being satisfied with your two losses, low expectations made it far easier to reach your goal-2nd place.

Look I agree that the torch wasn't passed as a team yet but at QB it was and it was very obvious. As the say Mahomes can't play offense and defense. Our defense is so bad its literally a top 10 worst of all time defense ever in the NFL. Our coaching staff overall is below average. So if the argument is you have better coaching, check, you have a better defense, check, but at quarterback the torch was passed, he clearly outplayed brady.

I'm ashamed that people are still falling for this guy's shtick.

Its not shtick. I was trying to compliment you guys but with all of the media about the torch being passed I had to see it with my own eyes. Once I did it was obvious but does not mean that you don't have a great team and maybe the best team, just not the best qb anymore but having the second best is still very good.

Mahomes didn't outplay anyone.......he single-handedly screwed the pooch in the 1st half.....it's a 60 minute game.....but to put things in perspective, Brady, in his 1st year as a starter, did what was needed to win an SB......Mahomes didn't......and as for today, if I need someone to win 1 game, I'll take Brady and it's not even close

That's called "his first year as a starter."

I know you desperately want to call him a rookie, but that word had a specific meaning with specific criteria. Mahomes does not fit those criteria. You can keep saying it over and over but that won't make it true.

BTW, Tom Brady won the Super Bowl in his first year as a starter. But hey, congrats on that Pro Bowl thingy you guys did yesterday.... I heard it was fun....

Again it takes a full team and great coaching to win a superbowl, one player does not make or break a season. Lets look at Bradys first season as a starter vs Mahomes… Yards, Brady 2,843, Mahomes 5,097, TD's Brady 18, Mahomes 50, INT Brady 12, Mahomes 12.... guys not even close….

Give us your defense or coaching, we'd take either one and we win by 17-20 points.

You realize that the Chiefs offense stalled in the first half because Mahomes still has trouble identifying where the blitz is coming from and still struggles with setting protections, correct? Those are two things that go into a quarterback being good/great. Brady has no such trouble. You sound like the Manning fanboys that used to come here after the Pats hammered them in the playoffs back in the day.

Alright, who fixed the typo in the title? That typo made the thread better.
You're right. The Tourch is a commune in France and the OP has inside information about Brady selling it to Patrick Mahoney.

@Rational Chiefs Fan .... you don't have to like reality

Who outplayed who couldn’t be more irrelevant.

What’s more relevant is Mahomes and the high powered Chiefs offense was shut out in the first half. At home. In a conference championship game. And yes much of that is on Mahomes. Let that sink in.

The better football team won.

We’ll see how PM does now that the AFC West and the entire league has that first half tape to dissect what the Patriots did against the Chiefs. I suspect we will find out very quickly if PM has staying power as an MVP level QB in this league or if he really was exposed by the Patriots.

I love how when people debate this they use what-ifs and scenarios that are complete fantasy and yet they talk about them like they’re fact. LOL

You would've had me if you said he'd only be good enough for 2-3. Belichick does put him over the edge enough to approach 6 wins. I'll give you that

Seems like you have a very different definition of torch passing than most other people do.

The lament of a losing fan. Yeah we would have won but. If, but, coulda, shoulda.

As the saying goes...scoreboard. Scoreboard don’t lie.

That’s a terrible comparison for too many reasons to list in one post.
