Mort today on radio

It was BB's way of getting into Manning's head for the next game. He was probably feeding manning some gibberish and Manning is totally soaking it in when all it is was BB playing mind games with Frankenstein to learn more about what makes him tick.

That's funny in theory, but I just think Belichick loves the game and has a great amount of respect for great football players. No doubt he won over AD at the Pro Bowl, because he could've taken San Francisco's more lucrative offer.

And to think that the game plan was about stopping Palmer and those WR's? Yeah.....Watson just gutted us to death lol

Every time an opponent gets into the red zome, they score a touch down against us. That bothers me. Now, so far it hasn't been a big deal, because there have only been 6 times in the 4 games when that has happened. If we keep the opponent out of the red zone, they at most get a field gola, and not often that.

However, that ain't gonna cut the mustard against a top-flight team like Indy.

It just DID cut the mustard against a top-flight team like Indy. We're talking offense here. Cincy's as close as it comes. They got 13 points.

The Patriots had a very simple game plan and, apparently, Mort never got the memo. New England was defending the run with only 6 players, and leaving the rest back in coverage. The players were talking about it on WEEI today.

Doing that, they still held the Bengals to less than 4 yards per rushing attempt. Like too many Patriots fans here, Mort failed to do his homework, so he finds big mountains where there are nothing but the tiniest of molehills. Take away Brady's vapor lock interception and the quick score following, and the New England defense only allowed 6 'legit' points all game.

People really need to stop living for every word of every 'pundit', and just start focusing on those people who actually understand the game. If you want analysis-backed opinions that actually mean something, look to guys like Jaws.

Personally I love Clayton, Mort and to some degree Peter King, they are tools of the NFL and promote all things wonderful in the Heartland.. pure and simple they do not understand this whole team defense thing nor do they understand the Patriots.. by they time they figure it out, the Patriots will be crowned one of the greatest teams of all time and they will continue their diatribe of what's and if's while missing what is really going on here. Dungy is a warm and fuzzy guy who gets along with the press, BB is the anti Dungy.. he is what he is and extremely satisfied with what he has accomplished here.

Bengals against Pats on Monday: 57 rushing yards, 3.8 YPC
Broncos against Colts on Sunday: 226 yards rushing, 6.1 YPC

Mort's conclusion: The Colts are better than the Pats because the Bengals ran too well against the Pats.

The Lesson? Mort is an idiot.

Well said. That is ******ed.

Kenny Watson was not that affective. He had 1 run for 16 yards and I believe it was late in the game when pats were playing pass all the way.
It seemed to me the Pats were only rushing the 3 lineman with an occasional blitzing linebacker.
They flooded the field for coverage and they still didn't really stop the passing game but they did not let those plays go in for scores which is the way the Bengals like to do it.

So we give up 50 yds to Watson and we are in danger?!?

I would think the more telling stat is Travis Henrys 150 yds rushing on the Dolts in the 1st half with a bum ankle. Now that is a bit more cause for concern IMO.

I hate the media.

Brady was frustrated when pressured?

His completion percentage was 78% with three td's and one truly bad throw for an INT.

If you are frustrated during a game from pressure, the stats would reflect it.

More incompletions......more sacks.........

One INT and one pass pressure from the blind side that lead to the ball being knocked out of his hands while passing. Such frustration.

What am I missing?

Mort is part of ESPN's pro-Dungy/Manning anti-Belichick faction.

They ballwash Indy so bad.

Not only is Mort an idiot, but just another ESPN Peyton Manning ballwasher.

Have you ever stopped to wonder what it would be like if BB was a commentator? (Hey! It could happen someday after BB gets his 12 SB rings)

We would finally have a commentator who actually knew what he was talking about. He would probably watch hours of film in preperation for his show and the opposing team's coaches would be watching, hoping to get some ideas on how to beat their opponent.

I used to think Jaws was knowledgible in a film-watching kind of way... but lately I have changed my opinion on that. BB would be the real deal.

Of course, he doesn't have a very ideal personality for that kind of job...

To be honest , he was a little flustered in the first quarter. How many times have you see him throw the ball at defenders feet in the first 3 games. He did that more than once in the first half.Iam not degrading his performance because any QB would get flustered when pressured but i dont think the stats completely indicate how the first quarter/half went for him.Just my 2 cents.

But you can't judge a players performance by one quarter of play, especially the first.

Throwing at defenders feet, was not inaccuracy. It's throwing the ball away without getting intentional grounding.

no one is judging brady's performance on that play. It was an observation by him and it was true. Doesnt mean he didnt play great. Question was not about brady being inaccurate, it was him being pressured.
Bottomline we dont have to worry about pressure from the indy defense. The most important thing when playing indy is to score TD's.
Everyone keeps talking about the 176 yards denver ran. All this is meaningless if you score FG's. And indy's defense will happily give you 250 yards rushing with 1 TD and 3 FG's .Means manning has to score 3 TD's to win.

dont get me wrong...colts run D has always been like this except a few games and they still win. For them giving the opponents 100-150 yards is okay as long as their own offense scores TD.
For the pats if they give a 100 yard rusher its a huge deal for the defense.Agreed now the pats offense can score on every drive but the colts off has done it for yrs under this model.
Colts keep giving up 150 yards and keep winning ..why ? they should be credited for something...

Remember the game Edge put up 200 yds on us and we still won?

If Harrison, Wayne and Clark can't get it going, then Addai isn't going to be carrying that team on his shoulders. Edge is a much better back than Addai.

kinda proves the point iam making...teams running all over colts still lose because of no redzone production...similar to how we won with edge running all over.

Mort should know better.Look at the film. The patriots only played 6 in the box ALL NIGHT.They conceded the run to protect against the pass. It's clear He has no idea what He's looking at.He's just another cement headed talking head!

had some thoughts...he thought after last night's game he would put the colts above the pats because he saw watson run the ball on them and when brady was pressured he was frustrated.
Then he went on to talk about BB at the pro bowl and how he was teaching and coaching which was unbelievable. Said BB and manning spent more time together he has ever seen a coach and player spend time in pro bowl. tirico shared his story from palmer who told them that BB was as intense as ever before a pro bowl game walk thru like it was the SB.
somewhat interesting stuff..
its on the espn page http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/index
its free for now to give a listen..

Umm, Mort, did you NOT see Travis Henry run the ball down Indy's throat on Sunday???

I think we're seeing the transition of Mort from a "beat NFL guy" into a more of a "columnist" kind of TV personality. He used to pretty much report the NFL news and rumors, now he's much more of an opinion guy. Schefter at NFL Network seems to have taken over the insider role.

Someone should tell Mort to check out the injury list for the Colts this week! He will be a Romo ball washer before you know it!!!
