At least he's not taking Dante.

It's never ideal to lose an experienced coach like O'Shea, but it does sound like Schuplinski is ready for a promotion. Going from assistant QB to WRs would make sense.

This is way overblown.

The single greatest asset in attracting top talent is the likelihood your time on staff will result in success and professional growth.

My guess is BB would be much more worried if his people are NOT getting opportunities for promotion.

Someone needs to ask Mike McCarthy if being in a job for years means your efforts get stale.

I mean... It sucks for us, but I can't blame them...

How long was O'shea waiting to be a OC here? How long has he dreamed of being an OC in the NFL...

All our coaches are individuals, with individual decision making and dreams... They can only do what's best for them in long-term and getting this comes in a fortunate time...

Sure the Pats gets a weakened coaching staff, but who wouldn't ponder a decision to move up ?

I don't know... I don't get mad at this type of stuff... It sucks and all, but it is understandable to me

That's not the Patriots Way, they should just stay put, be grateful they serve the bestest team ever and STFU.

They're just doing it for the money and the weather. Greedy ****y bastards. It's not like we live in a free capitalist society.

Wait... is the Patriots way.... COMMUNISM!?!?!?!?!

Taking O’Shea makes perfect sense since he was next up for OC when McDaniels decided to spurn Irsay. Bielama is a surprise but whatever, I don’t worry about Belichick’s ability to keep the coaching at the highest level. The most important thing imo was keeping Caserio, and since the interest in him is definitely ther I’m starting to believe he’s telling teams he’s not going anywhere.

The NFL is communist, all the billionaires get the same share, suck or not.

This is not a coincidence. The Dolphins Owner Ross, in part selected Flores to hurt the Patriots knowing he would bringing assistyant coaches along.
I doubt Flores gets a job offer in any other division

How will the Patriots ever survive the loss of Flores and O’Shea?? They are doomed! another master stroke by Ross. Miami will own this ***** for years to come now.

They are both good coaches but the likelihood that this will move the dial at all in the AFC East is very low. Flores may succeed but it is more likely than not that Ross hired a coach who is not ready for prime time, based upon on the recommendation of yet another young GM who hopes to recreate the Foxboro magic in his city. Plus, BB plans years ahead in every aspect of the organization come including the coaches. It will be next man up on the coaching staff as well and they are unlikely to miss a beat in terms of quality and effectiveness.

HA...Ernie is still here...right?

Flores moving in the division really concerns me. After watching Vranel and Patricia overachieve against the Pats, I’m assuming the Miami games for the next few years will be very competitive.

Luckily Chris Grier is the GM in Miami, so I’m also assuming Flores will have little talent to work with and this will ultimately be his undoing.

Hopefully, Bobbby taught Chris everything he knew!

Wasn't it Flores who used that defense vs Miami with 7 seconds left.....Just Sayin

At last years’ owners meeting in March, a rule was considered in response to McDaniels staying that would have allowed assistants with playoff teams to actually come to formal contractual terms with their new team before their existing team was eliminated. Reportedly, Bill Belichick made a rather impassioned plea against it and the rule was not passed.

I can’t imagine Bill Belichick is happy with any of this. One of his assistants has accepted a HC position with a division rival and is building his coaching staff while still be paid by the Patriots and while there are playoff games to prepare for.

We will never know about it, but my suspicion is Brian Flores might be holding the laminated play sheet on the sidelines, but he’s relaying in a play that was called by Bill Belichick from a game plan designed by Bill Belichick.

You can’t blame Flores for trying to advance his career and earn a salary that will set up his family for life. You can’t blame O’Shea either. He was gone anyway except he decided to attach his wagon to Flores in Miami rather than Fat Matt in Detroit.

He would have been our OC if Josh left.

Says who?

Just because he is next in line in terms of titles doesn't mean that eg. Schuplinski would not leapfrog him.

Imagine if BB changed coaching jobs within the same division?

Or better still did Mr. Kraft "poach" BB??

Fireman Ed ponders that daily..

I read that in the NFL assistant coach to OC is not a ''vertical move'', they can block if that is the case. The only vertical move is A or OC to HC. I don't know his contract situation tho.

I highly doubt it

From what I understand, Flores is a high character, highly talented coach who as served the Pats extremely well for many years. I wish him the best.
