Bill Polian refs gave NE 2 super bowl appearances.

Anyone else find it hilarious that the biggest guy in NFL Competition Committee history, the man who whined and complained in 03 about the big bad Patwiats is now saying that rules should not be enforced in a championship game?

Never had respect for this guy, never will. Fk what he did with the Bills, don't care. Born loser.

How many teams have made it to the Super Bowl without having had a bad call or noncall in the playoffs go their way??

The real ******* is Triumph for posting this garbage here. Completely unnecessary. But I always suspected Triumph was just a troll.

For anyone on the fence whether the ball touched Edelman, NFL Films cameras clearly shows the ball doesn't touch Edelman's arm, and the broadcast clearly showed it didn't touch his fingers/hands.

The only call that has sent NE to the Super Bowl twice (actually 9 times) is, "with the 199th pick in the draft, the Patriots select Tom Brady, quarterback." Suck it Polian you loser.
But but but, Polian said he had a 1st round grade on Brady...

I assume the 2nd one he's referring to is the 2003 season AFCCG against the Colts -- the ones that prompted all the rule changes. The thing is, there weren't actually rule changes as they were on the books - the Polian-led competition committee just issued a mandate making that a huge point of emphasis thereafter.
And if you can find that interview with Mike Pereira, Pereira said Polian wanted the DB's not to be allowed to touch the receivers at all. I think Pereira pretty much called that ridiculous and unenforceable.

And, Edelman punt had no conclusive evidence that he DID not touch the ball. Call on the field should have stayed.

Bad call on Ford in a championship game.Never should have been called. Gift for NE.

I don't recall the other call that sent NE to the super bowl, but Polian does.

NFL Sirius radio.

Axxhole
What galls me are the people saying the "lined up in the neutral zone" penalty shouldn't have been called. Say what now? Now refs aren't supposed to call penalties that are actually penalties, which are called all the time, and which are actually occurring? How did that dumbass Dee Ford not see that he was lined up with the ball (or maybe he wanted to get a jump at Brady and his head coach and Polian told him to go ahead - it's a championship game - they won't call an obvious penalty)?

What Polian really means is, "we all hate the Patriots, they would have lost if there was no penalty there (courtesy of the INT) and the refs should have looked the other way."

The EXACT same thing, by the way, that everyone is crying about that DID happen in the Saints game and theoretically changed the outcome of that game, for which people are calling for a replay of the game, sweeping rule changes in the off-season and other absolutely needed fixes.

Is he able to pronounce "Patriots" correctly yet ?

It’s funny to see the envy and hatred of the victim of a dynasty.

Bill Po-lyin' never got to 1st grade. And since he grew up in the Bronx before NY had mandatory kindergarten, he actually never went to school. Thus, he never learned to read or count. And because he never learned to count, he has never been capable of determining how many chances any team has ever been given to do anything. Thus, he's circled right back to being Bill Po-lyin'...

The reason people are saying it shouldn't be called is because according to some coaches/players usually you're warned before hand. However one former referee said you wouldn't get warned this late in the game. Also there's the question of something clearly being offside such as Dee Ford was vs borderline. Someone also mentioned earlier in the year when someone was offsides on a critical play and there was a big uproar about the refs not calling it, so maybe the NFL pressured the refs into calling it without a warning.

That being said, something that black and white should be called a penalty without a warning.

Also, if you re-watch the game, I think the Pats were in a semi-hurry up mode, so query exactly when this warning could have been issued. Plus, as you said, he was so obviously off-sides, not borderline at all.

During the 2014 season, the Jets were lining up to attempt a game winning FG. Hightower was off the line and walked up directly over the center. This would have been a penalty, but an official grabbed Hightower's arm and he moved off to one side of the formation. A few moments later, the FG attempt was blocked and the Patriots won the game. We'll never know, but maybe Hightower would have moved on his own. In any case, an official alerted him that he needed to move. As you remember or are probably guessing, the majority reaction to these events was negative, with articles titled "Referee Helped Patriots Avoid Penalty..." and "NFL Officials Are There To Enforce The Rules, Not Help Teams Follow Them."

This was a case of the refs giving a player a warning and people were unhappy about it. Now, they're unhappy that the refs didn't warn a player. It's no coincidence that the Patriots were the beneficiary in both situations. It's like something I saw on twitter about people saying the OT rules need to change because of the Patriots-Chiefs outcome. It was along the lines of "They don't want the OT rules changed, they want the winner of the game changed."

Sure there may be some as bad but is there a more self important revisionist POS in the football universe than Polian?
Don Shula? Polian is heading to be forgotten in history
