Most Overrated Player in NFL?

Again, NY mediots. They over-praise guy who they like - until they don't like them anymore. Then, the grenades are deployed.

Personally, the worst thing about Vernon being overhyped/overpaid is that some team may offer Flowers the same money.

I think Flowers will absolutely command Vernon-level money. It's a few years later too.

The post-injuries JJ Watt is not over-rated, neither was the pre-injuries Watt over-rated. He was unstoppable before and ho-hum after, but no NFL expert said or says different. He's a half-fallen all-pro hero, and this was expected after multiple injuries, one serious, put him on the sideline for a substantial period.

I think J. Clowney should be the guy who is candidate for 0ver-rated... or under-performing. He has never come close to all the hype that surrounded him coming out of college.

Russell Wilson, he can't be as good as the public and media perception is or his own coaching staff wouldn't take the ball out of his hands so much.

All I can say is, I hope not. An AAV of $17.5m is probably $2.5m AAV higher than I think the Pats would go.

I'm not happy about it myself, but I think Flowers has played himself onto a team with deeper pockets.

Liked your comment, don't like the thought. But we'll see.

Brady..because even with him being overrated, he still isn’t “rated” enough :D

Rodgers. Not close. He is the baseball equivalent to Wade Boggs on the Red Sox. Wade would always get two or three hits a game. But when he needed to come through in crunch time, he often failed. But the statd looked sexy. Thus, Wade was let off the hook.

Rodgers will put up nice numbers. But you really need to watch him closely. Why does he go so long without a pick? Because he throws the ball away when he shouldn't.

I can't agree with this. In 7 seasons Wilson has made the playoffs every year but one, been to the SB two times and won it once. I think this season was the first time that he qualified and lost his first playoff game.

That’s who I said as well. He is the most uncorrelated quarterback, maybe in the history of the game, between his passer rating his team’s offensive success. Points scored is such an obvious indicator of someone’s value at the QB position. The Seahawks have finished with these rankings (out of 32):

2012: 9th
2013: 8th
2014: 10th
2015: 4th
2016: 18th
2017: 11th
2018: 6th

To put things in perspective, the Patriots finished 4th this season, during a huge “down year” on multiple levels. Brady, Rodgers, and Brees frequently lead the league’s top scoring offenses. Wilson does not and isn’t capable. Yet he had the 2nd biggest QB rating of all-time, so everyone loves to make excuses for him and overrate his actual value.

Le'Veon Bell is a close second to Aaron Rodgers. That offensive line nearly made James Conner a 1000 yard rusher
Don't see how that's a knock on Bell. Bell was easily a top 5 RB no doubt

I agree with @WHPats on this one. Bell was pretty pedestrian his rookie year until his line became run blocking studs in 2015. The first game of the 2015 season, DeAngello Williams was tap dancing like Bell does behind that O-line and had a big night against the Pats.

In addition, Bell needs a big workload in order to be effective. I’ve never been that impressed with him. And Conner’s success doesn’t help.
