The guy had 1 sack heading into week 11. He’s been completely overrated ever since the Giants dumped a boatload of money at him a couple years ago. He was never that great of a player in Miami, and that continues on the Giants.

Also shows how big of a joke the Pro Bowl has become over the years. How in the F***?

Umm ...

Vernon missed the first five games of the season with an ankle injury. He ended the season with 7 sacks, 21 QBH, 30 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 PD, 1 FF and 1 FR of 43 yards.

All of his sacks were in 4 games of the season. He got in instead of Chandler Jones, Frank Clark, and Jason Pierre Paul, who all doubled his output playing full seasons? Give me a break.

He was actually very good for them in 2016. May have been an all pro. Would have to double check.

I think there are more overrated players than Vernon.

Is Vernon overpaid at $17.5m/season? Sure. Is he overhyped by the NY mediots? Of course.

However, in the past three seasons with the Giants (39 games), Vernon has posted pretty much the same stats as Trey Flowers has over the past three seasons with the Pats (46 games).

IMHO, the term "overrated" is overused.

2nd team.

My point is he wasn’t worth the money he received. He’s not bad, even a pretty decent player, but I don’t get why he gets so much more praise than the likes of guys like Flowers.

Again, NY mediots. They over-praise guy who they like - until they don't like them anymore. Then, the grenades are deployed.

Personally, the worst thing about Vernon being overhyped/overpaid is that some team may offer Flowers the same money.

Not sure he was being overrated this year or not. So impossible for me to comment on that

Pro Bowl is a joke these days.

I have Alex Guerrero as most overrated. He’s selling regression these days

I will get killed for this, however, if this is about this past season only, I would add Tom Brady's name to the mix.

Go Pats

Both.

People who expect him to play like prime Tom Brady or automatically assume he is the best in the league just because he’s the “GOAT” overrate him

Fans who call him “terrible” badly underrate him. His season compares favorably to “MVP candidate” Phillip Rivers

I was gonna say, an excellent comparison for Vernon is Flowers.
