Jets Suck -- 2018 Edition (Official): Fifty Fabulous Years of Futility!

The Jete were stupid for not keeping Blowes -- as if he was the problem. The PROBLEMS are GM Maccromagnon and incompetent ownership.

I could see if they just wanted both of them to go, but given the choice of one or the other, they clearly chose the wrong one. Bowles is in the "to be determined" category; he certainly didn't coach up the team to be better than they were, but that is an absolutely pathetic roster put together by Little Mac. When assessing the two, Little Mac should be fired without any question, and it isn't even a decision that you should need to make it's so obvious. His drafts, free agent moves, and everything he's done has been a dumpster fire. Bowles...don't even know. I am certain, though, that no coach in the NFL, including Belichick, could go .500 or better with that roster to work with.

If forced to make a decision, I would fire Bowles too, simply because he was dumb enough to take a job with the Jets. The overall cruddy thought process used to make that decision would cause me to move on. In fact, any coach going forward who accepts a job with them is automatically in "should be fired" territory for that very reason.

McCarthy wants to coach the Jets. He’s narrowed his search to just them. But he’s not signed yet. What’s the hold up? He’s probably asking every day “So you’re sure I can’t fire MacCagnan? Really? How about now?”

People often hesitate before career suicide. It all flashes before their eyes.

You can't make this up:

I have no idea how Rhule would perform as an NFL coach and don't know who he would have hired for his assistants, but the outgoing regime had an OC who had been out of football since the 2012 season (maybe his deluded fixation on the Patriots made him an attractive candidate.) How could Rhule's offensive coordinator have been worse? And, if he was, why were they even considering hiring Rhule?

News flash per Ian Rappaport live on NFLN: Adam Gase to be the new Jete head coach! Looks like Gase is choice No. 3 by default after Rhule and McCarthy bids fell through. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

I don't know if keeping Bowles would have helped. It's not like he ran a good offense that was hamstrung by a weak defense or vice versa. The team didn't go from undisciplined and penalty prone to disciplined under his watch.

The problem is the team should have fired the coach and GM. They came in at the same time and Maccagnan had input on bringing in Bowles. Bowles gets let go for not doing a good job, but his GM, who assembled these teams that Bowles had to coach, gets to stay?

Now, Maccagnan gets to pick a new coach even though he's done a poor job assembling a team. In 3 years, when 8-8 is the high water mark for the new leadership team, the Jete may finally fire Maccagnan and his handpicked coach and then have to start at square one with another coach/GM tandem, again. Or maybe they'll fire Maccagnan, keep Gase and repeat the process of incompetent management decisions.

Someone asked why this thread is still going? It's like those news stories you see where somebody ate detergent or put an appendage inside a machine or went into a wildlife enclosure. You wonder what these people were thinking and why they ignored common sense, writtent warnings and obvious signs of danger. No matter what steps society takes, some people are still going make poor decisions. The Jete are the professional sports equivalent of that.

You simply cannot be serious. No way a group of people can be this stupid. No way.

I had no idea this clown was even in consideration by any team. A disgraceful exit from a team that was average in every way but played well below average overall. Failed QB development too.

Why does the rest of the AFCE continue to exchange coaches?!?

Rex sucked in NY, he sucked in BUF
Gase sucked in MIA, he will suck in NY

Lmao

Some sincerely thoughtful observations on Gase's hiring from the Jete fan message board (jetnation.com):

holy mother of god

Wow. F this team.

I give up. Taking a long vacation from Jets. See ya.

Hahahahahha!!!!!!!

FUUUUUCK THIS FRANCHISE SO HARD

FTJ!

Wow just when you think someone can't disappoint you any more

I'm gone - good luck everyone.

Why

A great big bag of fail.

I’m done, too. Was nice spending some years here.

Finished, done, **** that. NOPE.

I listen to NY sports talk radio pretty much every day. The fan base wanted McCarthy overwhelmingly(82% on a 1500 response Twitter poll.) The pressure on Gase and Maccaggnan will be be extremely high right off the bat.

First order of business: complete the ruination of Dam Darnit. (This is assuming they don't do the right thing and pick a legit franchise quarterback with the third overall pick this year.)

None of them will be gone ...
They are addicted to the pain, anguish, false hopes ...
Some actively flog themselves during every game ... just for extra pain.
They have been wandering in search of a Lombardi for 45 years ...
Problem is they have no compass ... so they roam in circles.

On paper Gase is probably their best HC hire since that half day they had of Belichick. So on the surface it once again appears the Jete have won something in the offseason. But peel back a single layer of jete stank and you realize Maccromagnon will still be pulling the strings, something he wouldn't have been able to do with McCarthy. Now, provided you can handle any more stank, peel back another layer and think about how disastrous Gase was with the Miami media then picture him dealing with the NY shark fest.
We may not need to write much in next season's thread, just post the links to the NY dumpster fire articles. But we can use the time we save not creating posts to make popcorn, so there's that.

They interviewed Kliff Kingsbury who took the Cardinals job, Matt Rhule (Baylor coach), McCarthy, Eric Bieniemy (Chiefs offensive coordinator), Kris Richard (Cowboys defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator), Jim Caldwell (former Lions and Colts coach) and Todd Monken (Buccaneers offensive coordinator). Rhule would've been a good hire and reports are they were close but Maccromagnon probably tossed a monkey wrench into it. So instead they're stuck with ...

Adam Gase, former head coach, Miami Dolphins
Gase was fired on Black Monday, but he may not be unemployed for long. The innovative offensive architect never found his footing in Miami, going 23-25 as a head coach and ostracizing players like Jarvis Landry in the process. He was hamstrung by a low-octane lineup, but still managed to push Ryan Tannehill into a handful of strong performances — all three of Tannehill’s three-touchdown games ended in Dolphin wins this fall. Any team looking to ride the NFL’s rising tide of scoring while developing a young quarterback could put Gase at the top of its list this winter.
