Can Hoyer ball out if needed?

No.

What about Etling? I know he's on the practice squad but you never hear a word about him. I guess in BB's world that could be very good, or very bad.

Not counting on catching lightning in a bottle twice with late rd QBs but is it too much to ask for etling to become that bridge qb when Brady hangs it up to give us that 1/2 to a year of decent play until the rook we draft is ready to go?

I remember Case Keenum with the Texans wasn't all that but caught lighting in a bottle in Minnesota. Signed a contract with Denver last offseason and played above average weak arm and all. Danny Etling have a much Stronger arm but don't know if he has the intangibles.

If Belichick and McDaniels could come up with a game plan for Brissett in three days, I'm sure they could come up with something for Hoyer.

I'm not convinced he would win, but I'm convinced he'd have a good chance.

Brissett was the flavor of the month at that time and there was no film footage available.
Brian Hoyer's struggles are well documented.

Ask them both: what have you done for me lately???

I’m with CT Pats fan, think this board is too quick to trash him.

Hoyer for his career has thrown for 9900 yards, close to 60% completion rate, 48 TDs to 30 INTs. He’s not as bad as everyone makes him out to be, had a few stretches where he played well enough to score a starting role. So if Josh and BB come up with a decent scheme for him I think he’d be able to execute it if it’s not too demanding.

Still, definitely hope we don’t ever find out.

my Christmas present can help

N.O. (& I ain’t talkin’ bout the Saints)

I for one am not arbitrarily "trashing" him. He does a good job doing that on his own.

I think we should be asking can he “Foles Out” haha

He looked lousy, but so limited, maybe he was hurt. As has been pointed out, he's been a decent backup/spot starter a few places. In a pinch, experience beats raw athletic ability IMO

Would have to be a balance of running and short passes ...
His arm is to weak for anything further than short.
I think it's possible but I'd rather not sit through it.

He might be a top 5 back up as he's been mistaken for a starter multiple times through his career.

But I doubt he'd F0les us through the playoffs. And if he did, it would barely seem like it counted anyways.
