Does Matt Patricia Intentionally Try To Be a Slob?

Maybe he doesn't give a shyt what you or media thinks. It's kinda a quality that I like... Ask the mods..:p

That’s cool and all, but you aren’t paid millions of dollars to be the face of a company. You’re just some dude that likes to push his chest out on a messageboard with a bunch of people he has no relationship with.

Don’t get me wrong, I like your ****. Very funny most of the time, but he needs to be held to wee bit of a higher standard, wouldn’t you agree?

High intelligence and common sense are not similar .... they are neither mutually exclusive nor mutually dependent ... he misses the trees and only sees the forest.

It's pretty funny that you have this vision of yourself as a Rebel Iconoclast when you're basically the same as 90% of posters here.

I'm rooting for Matty P, always liked him. He does needs to do a better job next year. Blount should not have been splitting time with Kerryon, it was glaringly apparent. He's still getting his players in place, but you have to put your best foot forward.

You can root for him and think hes a slob at the same time.

Fat Matt needs to lose a couple of lbs
He started off on a good note, IIRC. I’m pretty sure that he cleaned himself up on some level, as I remember thinking that he looked a bit different at his opening press conference. As we know, that did not continue.

As the face of the franchise (or one of the more prominent ones), he really should change some habits. Actually, it’s imperative. Looking sloppy, showing up late on a regular basis, arguing with reporters etc isn’t going to go over too well when your team is winning 5 or 6 games.

Yes the venue is different.. and it's fun to think that way.. but Matty and coolade actually do care a little bit..

Really......? I hope so...

Punctuality for an NFL Coach?? Seems to this viewer that the press are a tad too coddled.. how many times is BB late???

Press conferences are a pain in the butt for Coaches and the only reason they do them is because they are mandated by the NFL.... a necessary evil.

I agree what he is doing is not a good look, but much of this is being reported by the press who were concerned about how much time the team spent running in the preseason (he's losing the team) and now how he makes the team practice outside sometimes in the mean old nasty weather. As bad as the NE Press is, the Detroit Press is several degrees worse..

Seldom does a first year coach turn a team around, then add a chronically underperforming QB... give Patricia a chance before he is judged. Let him find players who want the game to be played they way he wants it to be played..

The Lions have been so mediocre for so long, there's probably only one or two people covering them now who actually understand the NFL game. The rest have no patience or desire to learn at all.

Yep. His presser was fine. He trimmed his beard. No hat. Wore a suit.

Unless he is working in a Auto Zone or a software company, it just doesn't fly.

I like him but he's really ****ing things up over there.

He was handed a pretty bad situation. He needs to be given three years and it's borderline embarrassing that he already has to come up and answer questions about his job security when he hasn't even completed year one of his tenure yet. He essentially addressed one of their biggest, most lingering issues (RB) in year one. The bigger question mark, going forward, is how he addresses Stafford. Will he have the guts to trade him in the offseason given the fact that people are already questioning his job security? A real question to ask is how he's getting fatter and whether he's worried about the beating his heart is no doubt taking under all that weight and the frontal assault that crushing 16 cans per day of Monster energy drinks can bring on.

Does it not seem like he essentially just tries to be like Bill? He tries to dress poorly, he tries to be vague to the media, etc.

It feels like Bill does the things he does because it’s who he is, and Matt does it to try and be someone. He’s trying to be Bill Belichick and he ultimately isn’t.

Detroit sports reporters seem to delight in trying to diminish Patricia. Maybe they trained in Boston.

Matt’s a smart guy but if you want your players to follow your lead set a good example. Showing up late to team meetings and press requirements is unacceptable. If a Pats player was late they were sent home, even if there was a snow storm. Belichick set the example and the team had to follow.

More proof this board is 99 percent idiots .
