Thoughts on Sony Michel

It took Welker and Edelman awhile to figure out that they could preserve themselves and still tack 1-3 yards onto the end of every catch simply by getting real low and diving forward just before contact.

That said, this season so far, Edelman appears to be playing with wild abandon and significantly less regard for self-preservation than in the past.
I've noticed that as well about JE. He's throwing his body around a lot more this year than in the past.

I love the passion but yikes!

While the bumps and bruises add up, it's the soft tissue injuries that really get you, and those have little to do with how hard you go.

Yeah I get my kicks trolling the Sony Michel thread. And I conspired with Rainmaker to do it since he already agreed with me.

Which AFC RBs do you think are "clearly" ahead of Michel?

I expect Michel to improve as his health improves and he gains experience. But

Gordon
Hunt
Conner
Miller
Mixon
Lewis (and don't start with the "ypc!" nonsense or I'll toss in guys like Linsday and Crowell)

are all "clearly" ahead of where Michel is right now.

'A tree that is unbending is easily broken'. ... The tree taunts the reed for its frailty and yielding to every wind but the reed does not answer back. The wisdom of its behaviour becomes apparent when the tree is snapped in the buffeting of a storm.

Yeah they are a lot of Good RB's in this league right now.

I don't think he's 100%. Doesn't look as explosive as he did in college. Great vision like everyone has mentioned. Will be an even bigger threat once he is 100%.

Still should have kept Blount.
I think we win SB 52 if we had Blount. Chemistry is a big part of championships, and losing Blount, replacing him with Gillislee hurt the chemistry. No offense to Gillislee, but that was a HUGE mistake. Especially since Blount signed for less $.

Well not only that, Blount wouldn’t have gashed us in the SB if he were still on our team o_O

Absolutely offense to Gillislee. He completed sucked. He still sucks. That's why he's unemployed. Blount didn't. The swap was a bad personnel move.

IDK. Edelman himself has said that his ACL tear was the result of trying to cut too hard.

Just take what Michel gives you.

As a receiver, sure. As a running back this year, wtf are you thinking? In about the same number of carries (127 vs 129), Michel has 5 TDs to Lewis's 1 and 37 first downs to Lewis's 18. And yes, 4.6 ypc vs Lewis's 3.3. In what way can you possibly argue Lewis ahead of Michel this year as a runner?

Conner is behind a monster OL. I wouldn't give him all the credit like this

And yes, i do think Michel is a better runner than Lewis nowadays. I still see Lewins getting picked behind the LS, relying way too much on his quickness instead of following blocks. He can be electric, but his flaws have not been corrected yet... Even if you includeshis superior receiving skills, i do not see him that much better than Michel, now.

Agree on the rest, though

Gillislee sucks, no doubt. but I don't really think it made a big difference in the result. We gained yards and scored plenty of points in the Super Bowl. Blount didn't do anything in our two Super Bowl wins.

The only difference is he wouldn't have taken a steaming dump on us with that TD run.

I'm thinking I've seen Lewis play running back. I'm also finding it amusing that we're supposed to ignore the receiving angle. And, if you're going to quote numbers as the end all and be all, I'll take out Lewis, and I'll add Crowell, Chubb, Mack, and Lindsay.

He was rolled up on, a few plays prior. You could see him try to flex his knee to shake it off, only to tear it a few plays later.

If given a futures contract for Lewis or Michel, I'm buying Michel. [notwithstanding that, on almost the same amount of carries, Michel has outproduced him] Michel has been injured too, has Dion?
