What started the rulel was the hit on carson palmer by kimo von olhofen in a play off game, not the hit on brady that kncoked him out in 0'11. But i always here that it was the hit on TB that resulted in penalty for hitting a qb low.

Jets made the right decision. Odds of converting 3rd and 12 is much lower than the odds of converting 4th and 2. Just didn't work out, but that's football.

The rule is that a defender is not to go low on a QB unless he's blocked into the QB, as far as I've known. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I assume you’re correct (as per the letter of the law).

I just disagree with that type of play qualifying as a foul, and certainly the officials have some autonomy in that situation as to whether they want to call that.
