I think either Chao is right or it’s one of those really, really bad ones involving all the ligaments.

Was it '05 when Pass got "shot" in the leg and just abandoned the ball?

I'm 99% sure Pass had a cramp and didn't just abandon the ball, he aggressively threw it at the ground so he could grab at his owie. It really goes along with the stuff in one of the Pats books from the early 2000s where the coaches thought Pass was the type of guy to try to avoid playing if he had a hang nail.

I'm not big on criticizing players who are doing something physically I could never do, but I'd say I'll give Michel a pass because that was brutal looking.

I remember that but for some reason thought it was 2002, but that does not seem right.

It was a hammy and he did sort of throw the ball down to grab his leg with that hand. As I recall, he was trying to turn the left end and was just up to the sideline when the "shot" rang out from the grassy knoll.

Btw, I'm NOT comparing the Pass incident to Michel's. I was just reminded of it by DaBruinz' list of "rbs" from that season. It's a play that sticks in my mind.

Seems unlikely he'll be good anytime soon. I believe they add someone this week.
Even if he’s able to come back late in the year, it’ll be unlikely that he’ll be at anywhere near 100%. Sucks, but knee issues were the concern with him coming out of college.

He's had one injury in the NFL...

Injured in college, missed almost all of camp with an injury suffered in the NFL, game time decision last week, injured this week

If he were a 2nd round DB, people would be writing him off as a bust.

If you’re comparing him to a DB, that DB would have multiple games with interceptions. I highly doubt people would be writing him off as a bust.

That said, this team’s horrific luck with first round or top overall picks suffering season-ending or threatening (in this case) injuries continues. That type of luck sets most teams back years... maybe even decades. And though it’s no doubt hurt this team, they’re still a contender because of who is at quarterback.
