Look if you can decipher another teams signs, that is not cheating, what this guy was doing was pointing a camera into the Sox dugout from a press area that he didn't have the credentials to be in. I guess maybe you can pick up the signs from Cora to his catcher/base coaches better? It doesn't seem to be that big of an advantage.
If you can steal the pitch signs, then you really do have a great advantage, provided that you can communicate them quickly to the hitter. This is where the electronics comes in, they say he was "texting a lot" so if say, he was able to steal the sign from the dugout to the catcher, and then text it to the Astros and they can make some kind of noise to alert the batter, that would be a big deal.
