What if the Pats added some quality WR's after the departure of Twig... er, I mean Branch? Brady was amazing before but this season's upgrade has made him look unworldly so far.

Granted Welker, Stallworth and Moss were not available through F/A last season but if they only had an upgrade of Bug eyes and the patchwork WRs...we'd probably pursuing a 5th Lombardi.

I wonder if BB and Pioli wished they had a a 'do over' when it came to the '06 WR corps.

Thoughts?

We came very close to winning it all.

WR was our weakest unit.

But I don't think the brass spends a lot of time worrying about woulda coulda shouldas more directly than that.

Several thought that letting both Branch and Givens get away without signing at least one was a mistake. Many said no worries look how good our WR's are. With one or two decient wr's in 06 the Pats win the Super bowl.

I think they just had to go with what was out there, honestly. The LB play in the 2nd half was more damning than anything against the Colts. Yeah, Branch woulda helped for sure, but they had to stick with the philosophy.....seems smart now.

what if the pats weren't forced to play sunday and then fly cross country to play on saturday?

I still think we could have gotten Moss for a first instead of Gabriel for a 5th.

I know what you are getting at, but I could just as easily play 'what if' in 2005 as 2006.

It hurt getting so close and losing both years.

What if Drew never got knocked out in 2001?

I'll settle for a good year this year, all things considered!

I do wish the spygate thing didn't happen, but that is a different story...

not sure what you mean by do over. If we had Branch last year we would have made it to the SB. They wanted to pay him, he wanted to feed his family and be miserable in rain for the the rest of his life. The pats front office could not of predicted a guy of Branch's caliber with his team personality would have pulled that shenanigans. there is nothing to do over.

Think about the biggest WR FA last year. Randel El?, Givens?, not much to get you to that next level.
