A few people already described this situation as "rolling a dice"...

He has Cat like quickness in his feet.

Is his mind on the game or stealing my Cat nip?

I like the trade. It had to be done. If there was someone else to be had, the Pats would’ve traded for them. The only question I have is whether Gordon really wants to play?

There's a lot to be said about being around strong leaders. I mean he wa sin the Brown's. Sometimes people need others to be mentally tough for them. I think he will thrive in a more structured environment.
Let’s hope but others have failed here too.

Has Josh spoken to the media yet?

I think it's something the team had to try and if it fails, they're likely right back where they started.
Not if it fails during the bye week before the divisional round. They will be substantially worse off.

It is more likely a question of when not if and that when could derail the season.
I hope he makes it all the way through and we have an additional weapon but the rug getting pulled out at the wrong time is a big concern.

Pro's- 6'3, 225lbs WR with crazy speed and some familiarity with the Erhardt-Perkins offense for next to nothing;

Cons- he struggling with addiction issues and is 1 violation away from a ban.

SO-Ray Lewis killed a guy.

Why so serious? I don't think there is a good chance this will fail. He's coming from the Brown's...the only organization that looks at a tie like a win. Josh seems to have grown up a bit, played well in some games last year. Hell, as long as he can run a go route, slant, or hitch route. We can use him.

He has/had a substance abuse issue. I'm citing general rates of relapse. Nobody is rooting for Gordon more than I am but, if I were a betting man, I'd bet on a relapse.

The acquisition cost is so low and his potential is so high that the move is a no brainer. However, the chances of him actually working out well are very slim IMO.

Good move but I expect he'll flame out and be cut/suspended/healthy inactive by Thanksgiving.

You mean like how our offense was built around Gronk in 2016 and
Sure. But gronk was gone in November. If Gordon is gone after game 9 then I won’t worry about the impact. I just feel it’s more likely he flakes the deeper into the season and playoffs we get.

If either Gronk or Edelman gets hurt long term or deep into the season we are not winning the Super Bowl. The passing offense must be high powered enough to carry what may end up being a very unreliable defense in the playoffs.

I'll take the 'risk'.

Went with 'good' but as a trade I actually think it's a great because of the low cost (30-40 places at the tail end of the draft) and the potential for huge payoff. But I think the odds of the big payoff are slim so I couldn't pick the 'great' option.

Got to think in terms of what we gave up.
1st a roster spot that’s been revolving anyways
2nd negligible cap space
3rd a fifth rd pick that likely wouldn’t make the team anyways

We really didn’t lose anything but there’s a potential we can get a good player. Can’t really be upset at all because even if he fails we’re right back to where we started, bringing in bottom of the roster receivers for tryouts.

We can cross our fingers (if you have fingers) and *hope* that he learns to be a team player.

I'm excited I firmly believe he will work out.

Gronk, Edelman, Gordon, Hogan, Dorsett

Good luck defenses.

I do not expect him to break any records and to be the same player as he was a few years ago. Nevertheless if he casts his demons away he could be a valuable asset. He has not forgotten how to play football and he might be a real weapon in the red zone. After a long break his route running could be definitely worse but his abilities, speed and agility still make him a player who should absorb best CBs.That is enough to give Dorsett,Edelman or Hogan space to be more effective.I want to believe he will give us a lot of fun and make Brady's life easier.

I think the concern would be more like when Welker went down in 2012. If Gordon gets popped in week 17, there's no time to bring a contingency up to speed.

I think this is a small risk, as I think if that is looming the team will see signs of it sooner and cut bait, but I understand the concern (and voiced something similar prior to the trade being made final). Absolutely worth the chance to me in the end though.
