2018 season thread for those who like to watch/comment on some tape analysis from around the league. Feel free to post interesting NFL film studies from the current season.

This is from underwhelming season opener. Still some interesting plays. Plenty of Pats Film study in Philly gameplan not just the “Brady special“..

Thought this was pretty interesting. I'd love for Butler to develop into this type of player.

Anybody know where to get coach's film without paying for a special NFL subscription?

This gets celebrated as great Darnold's throw (and graded like one of course) . in tape reality it was an interception throw waiting to happen from the get go (also underthrown) and it should've been at least easy PBU and not too difficult INT for an NFL corner.

DET was bad all night all phases but if this goes the other way its a different ball game nonetheless..

Agree. Thought that when it happened. Very lucky that it wasn’t picked and way too deep a throw to make the “db has his head turned” argument.

Not to mention he did what he did all night... stared down his receiver. The Lions couldn't make him pay because they're absolutely terrible on defense. But he's going to be facing some tougher defenses in the coming weeks and that internal clock is going to be sped up. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in double digits for INTs by the time the Bears game rolls around on 10/28 if he doesn't get that corrected in a hurry. I'll also be interested in seeing if his footwork doesn't revert back to his USC days in the coming weeks.

No doubt an under thrown ball, should of had a couple more yards on it. The pass could of come out a second or maybe even two faster. I do see a bit of a shoulder move early on that the safety appeared to me bite on. As far as staring down the receiver not sure I see that, the Jets had two receivers underneath Anderson that I believe are part of his read progression. I like the way he stayed in the pocket.

Two ways of looking at things and I am sure when you break things down you can find mistakes as my fellow posters have pointed out here, legit mistakes.

But then again overall the play was an obvious success, Darnold put the ball where his receiver had a chance to go up and get it and Anderson did just that. Maybe the Jets just got lucky on this one, or maybe Darnold the rookie found a way to make it happen.

Tavon Wilson was that safety. Tavon Wilson has no business playing as a deep safety ever. He did the same **** in 2012 Seahawks and Rams game back to back. Different route combination, but same thing. It's not impressive to beat Tavon Wilson deep. He shouldn't even be playing deep ever. That's on Patricia.

I guess Darnold properly saw the mismatch

I liked Darnold from the first time i saw him and it was a solid first outing esp. after pick six . but the coaches there better be straight with him - there was plenty of college mentality - not only on above throw - and other NFL teams will not be as forgiving..

Slightly OT but a nice watch:

(im sure with BB they could go back to the sixties..)

no lack of love for Nelson here
(compared to how other 1st round OL rookies looked week 1 makes this even more impressive)

OT but fun watch (ignore the caption) . coaching..

Lets revive this dead thread by nice Baldy tape :
Adding by multiple coaching subtractions in CLE..

Lol PFF is wrong everytime. That was ****ing Tavon Wilson guarding him. Tavon Wilson should never be playing as a deep safety, ever! Nothing highlight reel at all about that. Congrats on under throwing the ball Sam Darnold, you're lucky your man was being covered by a player who has no business playing the deep safety.

I know Manning isn't popular around here, but this is a nice watch. I really like the Dino or Money route that he mentions -- I'd love to see us use something like that in the red zone more often.
