Zolak was kind of annoying last night (moreso than usual) - and I didn't understand the Brady helmet thing. I think it looks cool.. like Future Tech version of Brady.. TB12 2.0

Kind of annoying?

Honestly, during the first pre-season game, we thought he might've been drinking. Last night, we were pretty convinced that he was drunk.

Hopefully the tear heals on its own.
Meniscus tears generally don't heal on their own. They can get worse of course. He is going to live with it until the off-season apparently when it can be repaired (surgically).

I've had just about enough of Zo. With that said I'd still take him over Fauria.

Yea.

This according to my extensive research which lasted all but 30 seconds on Google.

A tear in this "red" zone may heal on its own, or can often be repaired with surgery. A longitudinal tear is an example of this kind of tear. In contrast, the inner two-thirds of the meniscus lacks a blood supply. Without nutrients from blood, tears in this "white" zone cannot heal.

I understand that the station wants to offer something humorous for the mainstream audience once the 3rd stringers hit the field but I wish we had gotten Ninkovich in the booth in the first half with the 1s. This could have been Romo-esque just from the defensive perspective.

I have not read this entire thread, but honestly, that is how the SB should have gone.

I know we're all skeptical on the new helmet rule, but if I had to hear him say, "Good LUCK with THIS rule, folks..." one more time...
Skeptical? It's going to be a sh*t show unless they get rid of it altogether.

If there can be some clarification on it, players will adapt. I'm just not confident in their ability to clarify it.

I just wish Zo would shut the **** up about it unless he has something novel and/or constructive to say. He's just filling the air with the same sentence over and over.

I am not sure how you can adapt to a fundamentally stupid rule.

You can maybe mitigate some of it but a lot of the **** that gets called are tackles that have been taught to people since they were young. You can't just change years of practice and muscle memory. Similarly it seems to me that apart from the obvious cases where the helmet is used as a weapon in many other instances pulling the head down and bracing for impact is just natural reaction.

Like everyone has already said.. I can't wait for the first tight game to be affected by this garbage. May it be a dead drive extended by a call or a successful play called back. Or it happening during a FG suddenly giving the kicking team a first down.

What I'm saying is that, what BB has consistently coached Pats defenders NOT to do is now a 15-yard penalty. IOW, Pats defenders likely need a lot less coaching on the new rule than players on other teams since they've been taught for years to avoid that type of contact.
I’m not sure I agree with this. The way they are calling this a good tackle can be called a penalty. Richards can’t hit with his shoulder without his head going with it on that play. According to this rule he should stay straight up and catch the runner in his chest.

Enforcement is always fairly unpredictable, especially with new rules. However, my guess is that Pats players will end up being flagged far less often than players on other teams - and that in itself will inevitably become an issue that Pats-haters will scream about relentlessly.
I don’t know how that happens.

Several years ago, the Pats finished a season as the least-penalized team in the league by a notable margin over the second-least-penalized team. That, of course, incited all sorts of spittle-flecked complaints about "ref bias" in favor of the Pats. What no one bothered to notice was that, nearly the entire difference in penalty counts between the Pats and the league average was accounted for by the Pats lack of "false start" and "offsides" flags - the penalties that are the least open to ref interpretation of the rules.

Anyway, the good news is that the perennial big-hitters on other teams who will likely be most affected by the new rule (and unpredictable interpretation/enforcement), are also frequently among the best defensive players on those teams. Many of those players may not be able to adjust their playing style and still retain their effectiveness.

Advantage: Patriots.
Disadvantage: the game of football

This rule, if it’s enforced like last night, will ruin the game.

Thats because at no point in the game did they slow down the replay enough to see this:

All Chao and almost everyone else saw was Wynn blocking and then suddenly experiencing pain. This shot clearly shows the ankle injury.

But thank god we had time for Zolak drawing and joking with the two bozos downstairs.

What am I seeing there? Is that Brady stepping on Wynn's foot?

If Crossen and JC can shine in the 3rd preseason game, Jason McCourty might need to call unemployment.

I can see them carrying 6 DBs until Jules comes back.

Gilmore
Rowe
Dawson
JJ
Crossen
JC Jackson (bad 57 yard reception last night but I dont think he played poorly)
Crossen was a disaster.
Isn’t a 57 yard reception the definition of playing poorly. How many snaps did he play?

Looks to me like he had his foot planted awkwardly (or maybe it got caught in the turf ?) while Bennett was engaging with him. Which resulted in a snapshot of a pretty twisted ankle.

Here are 2 other sports docs talking Wynn. Really hoping it's not the Achilles.

The reason everyone is talking about an Achilles is because there is nothing obvious to see in the video. That screenshot from DocFlynn made me feel a bit less panicky because it at least shows his ankle being twisted. Of course none of this means anything.

Sorry I was adding in a second tweet to my post which has a second doc who was a team physician saying he thinks it's the Achilles.

After rewatching this frame by frame a few times I think Shaq Mason hits Wynn leg while Wynn is stepping backwards and about to plant his foot and puts him out of balance. Unfortunately the shot is so crowded that you can't really see too much of what happens with the feet.

I'm to some experts it's obvious what was injured at times but this is a wait & see imo bc the shots do indicate an ankle & I could've sworn I seen something saying it was reported an ankle?

Idk but wait & see for me. Achilles would gut me after last year. Really hoping it's a 4-6 week ankle as opposed to the Achilles. Don't even like thinking about that. He's such a good dude. Seems very nice, grounded & humbled.
