Do you think the run defense might have played better if chung had been able to play in the box more instead of helping out int he secondary?
It’s looking like the difference is a lot smaller than you realize, considering the fact that they were 31st ranked in run defense with Butler playing 98% of the prior snaps over the course of the season.

If horrific decisions that cost Super Bowls are now products of Belichick’s style, then that style has curdled and turned rotten. Which might help explain why Tom Brady, the ultimate team player, has apparently gotten so tired of him.

We'll see if that style has curdled or not. Right now it's 5-3 in Super Bowls.

It’s the most reasonable conclusion based on the evidence.

The conclusion is they lost. You assume they would have won if Butler played but no one knows that.

You blame BB for the loss whereas I accept that BB's coaching style isn't perfect but it has worked better than any other coaching style has ever before.

You assume there was no reason to bench Butler or not let him play but you or I don't know why accept for the speculation.

Butler did not play at a high level last season.
He was a liability on alot of plays and Never came close to his previous level of play.

It’s the most reasonable conclusion.

I never said no reason, people always have reasons for terrible decisions.

You guys can continue to be heartbroken over the loss of one Super Bowl.

I'll continue to enjoy the Five championships, the 8 trips, the 12 AFCCG appearances, the 25 point comeback, the nationally anointing of Tom Brady as the GOAT and shoving Deflategate right up Roger's ass. All of which was brought to you by historically great HC and his coaching style coupled with a historically great QB.

BB had a reason and made a decision just as he's made many decisions over the last two decades.

Your conclusion is based on the assumption that BB's decision wasn't good enough. We don't know that. We do know what his past decisions has delivered.

Hell I read a post (not yours) that implied he should have won more than 8. hahaha

"Sabotaged" 'threw the game to feed his ego' WTF??

Five isn't good enough. I wonder if six will finally satisfy the fan base.

Hopefully this won't tarnish his legacy. haha

We are so spoiled.

It’s been to 3 out of the last 4 winning 2 of them. Few have ever accomplished that.

There was a guy that won three in four years. Ole whatshisname.

for such a liability playing as poorly as he was, seems strange that he had the most snaps played of any defensive player on the patriots roster.

I have said that BB's coaching style, whether you agree with his decisions or not, are responsible for 12 AFCCG trips over the last 18 years. It works.

Chalking up Belichick's egregious Super Bowl blunder to "that's his style" and invoking the Brady-era Super Bowl record is a really dishonest approach to this.

I dont think anyone will believe that this was purely a football choice, and that something happened.

the issue is what could have happened that was so severe that it warranted in butler getting zero defensive snaps, but not severe enough that he wasn't active, or sent home.
