OT: TO Declines to Attend Hall of Fame Ceremony

Like him or not (I was never a big fan of T.O.), this is so petty from the HoF. They need to get over themselves.

It's almost as though they are competeing to see who can sink lower.
There's something to be said for taking the high road. Unfortunately when it comes to the HoF all we can say about it is it's the road not taken.

Great move. That will eat away at him like there's no tomorrow.

Which should only escalate the No/U bs. Like kids on a playground.

So what? As long as it eats away at T.O. and drives him over the edge, it's good entertainment.

I didn't say it won't be without some train wreck entertainment value to us especially while we are here in the Death Valley of the league year. The HoF not only handling it this way but inviting unnecessary criticism by announcing they are going to is just almost as numb as Dungy being enshrined while Johnson, Coryell and Flores are on the outside looking in.

I have thoughts on that, but I’ll save it for a political forum.

For what it's worth TO also quit from MTV's CHAMPS vs PROS CHALLENGE

It’s just weird. No one has done that in NFL history. He whined about not getting in the Hall for years and now doesn’t want to go to the ceremony when he gets picked. It’s a complete disrespect to the voters.

The same voters who disrespected him by not making him a first ballot hall of famer even though his career and numbers more than validate it.

So yes, pettiness on both ends, I guess now they are even

I understand your drift but it had no bearing on where I was going with it. Purely from a football standpoint, Coryell revolutionized the pro game, Flores and Johnson won 2 apiece. Flores doing it with an uneven roster and while Johnson's roster was stacked he had to deal with some outsized personalities, in particular his owner's. Dungy had two allstar laden rosters and only managed one ring.

I don't watch Mtv anymore but I saw a clip on yt a while back w TO & Chris (CT) who I grew up w. Really good friends when we were kids. I was hoping they would get physical bc Chris would have hurt him lol.

How is this getting down to T.O.'s level? What exactly is it they are supposed to do to honor a guy who isn't there?
They shouldn't have replied at all imo. It's great bc you know TO is woke af rn tryna come up w something he can respond w.

Not so much as a mention of his name or a brief highlight video is most decidedly getting down to his level, made all the worse by announcing ahead of time that's what they are doing. A much better move on their part would have been treating his absence like they would a posthumous enshrinee. Taking the high road and killing him with kindness would have defanged his childish bite. Owens' induction has been a cluster**** all the way around.

"... the Hall of Fame will not announce Owens’ name during the Friday night gold jacket ceremony or during Saturday night’s enshrinement."
"This was the opportunity for the Hall of Fame to take the high road, to acknowledge Owens by name, to display a video of the achievements that earned him a spot in Canton"

So T.O. comes out looking better then the HOF, again.

Bull. He was invited to attend and he declined the opportunity. You make it sound like they told him he couldn't come. He certainly doesn't deserve the honors they have given to posthumous enshrines.

If you don't invite someone to gathering they really should be able to attend, you look like a jackass. But if you do invite them and they refuse the invitation, then they look like the jackass.

F-him.

If your takeaway from my post was I made it "sound like they told him he couldn't come" then you either don't take my meaning correctly or you're just going AJ here. I inferred nothing of the sort. I'm hardly an Owens apologist, after all his whining about not getting in he's an ass not to attend. I think he's a turd but leave it to the HoF to get in the sandbox with him, smdh.

They both look like a jackass. They both have a historic level of butthurtenness. It's a rare phenominon.

A bunch of old curmudgeons who think they are some kind of representation of morale fabric in our society are being exposed by the ultimate narcissistic bipolar lunatic. I love it.

Listen every player that went into the Hall either

1. Actually attended and picked a close personal friend (hence why Stephen A Smith has the record for most appearances) to induct and honor them in front of their friends/family/fans. Then they took the time to thank all of those people and celebrate with them.

2. Were too dead to go and a family member or someone close felt obligated to accept it on their behalf

TO is the only one who felt like it wasn’t important. There’s no reason why they should waste time to awkwardly honor the guy who doesn’t want to be there. He’s in the Hall, he’s getting his just and jacket, he’s immortalized

The pro football HOF is a joke, with or without TO.

Maybe Ray Lewis, Michael Irving or Warren Sapp could give TO some high-character advice. Or maybe Chris Carter could help TO find a fall guy to take his place.

Apparently some of us owe T'O' an apology. Seems his 'boycott' isn't selfish and childish at all but is instead being driven by his desire to bring attention to the plight of the oppressed masses of NFL greats that had to wait for their enshrinement. I for one am deeply ashamed I ever doubted the motivations of this great humanitarian who is willing to sacrifice his moment in the Sun for the benefit of his brothers. Of course one can't help but wonder since the idea was to draw attention to such gross injustice why Owens didn't say so from the beginning...

Terrell Owens says he’s boycotting HOF enshrinement for those who “had to wait”

Yeah, well, who actually likes to wait for things? I want my gratification now! NOW, I tell you!!!
