Looking again at the penalty Brazil didn't get, I can't see for the life of me why it wasn't given. Kompany took the legs without making contact with the ball. That's what VAR is there for, isn't it?

No, its there to help only the European teams

Neymar, good player, very good, but he doesn’t belong to be compared to Ronaldo, Romario, Pele...

Agree. I hope they stay with tite but they always have high expectations and if those expectations are not met they usually start blaming the manager.

Life is over.

Nothing has meaning

Whera r u sweet death

Just no England. Want belgium or Croatia to win the World Cup. A first time team. I do think France will beat belgium though

I watched Australia play Croatia back in the 2006 World Cup. Croatian fans are absolutely terrible human beings. Total scum. Could never root for Croatia.

Bias for European teams from a guy who calls himself "the Brit" and I'm the troll? Ironic to say the least. Not sure what the WC has to do with the NFL, but my team didn't even qualify. I'm just pointing out the obvious. It is a tournament held by an association based in Europe so...

You probably think the Jets are going to win the Super Bowl too.

Really don't see how pointing out the Eurocentric nature of the WC automatically makes me into a Jets fan...

So...blame Switzerland? Was it FIFA's fault that Germany **** the bed? That Italy decided to stay home?

FIFA is corrupt but could care less who wins, it's more about getting paid from the host country of the games.

I agree that they don't care who wins, and its true all they want is to get paid. But they also get a lot of money from TV companies and endorsements. Most of the WC viewers are in Europe. And there are a lot in the Americas, too - particularily South America. So while its true they don't exactly have favourite teams, they do have favourite viewers.

When was the last time England had a good goalie?

They've had some great ones down the years. Pickford certainly isn't without his flaws but he was excellent today.

Been out to the pub and watched it with the lads, I'm still pretty buzzed but that was very very comfortable. Sweden really lacked ideas and England barely got out of third gear. Happy for Alli to get the goal whilst Maguire has been a beast at the back and going forwards.

Trippier, Stones, Henderson, Sterling - all very good too.

Never expected to get beyond the group to be honest, thelast time we were in a World Cup semi final I was 10. Mental stuff. It's brilliant and the country is buzzing.

It depends how you rate David Seaman, who was the keeper through the 90s. I have to admit I wasn't a great fan. Before that, Peter Shilton was indisputably great -- as were his predecessors.

Pickford is the best one for a long time, that's for sure. He's kept his team in the World Cup.

anyone except France

should be sudden death with scoring being tough. Would be much more exciting..
..and stoppage time added on is ridiculous. Fans should know exactly how much time is left.

Russia has shown a lot here. Likely going to penalties.

Croatia advances on PKs. My damn aunt cursed the russians☹️

Congrats Croatia! Don’t accept any cups of tea from Russians you don’t know.
