McCarron has some fantastic measurables and spent all 2017 on the practice squad, so he should have a solid grasp on the playbook. Obviously, it takes more than athleticism to be a wide receiver, but the potential’s thereI know we are heading slowly into the inexplicable camp binkie season but I never understood the obsession some people had with McCarron. Unless he takes an unprecedented turn for the better he will be nothing more than camp fodder.
Berrios looks like someone who will need a redshirt year to compete. But if we manage to hang on to him somehow via the PS (or on the roster due to injuries) he will have a better shot at making next years roster than "beloved" guys like Austin Carr.
Honestly, I think this team has enough firepower on offense to survive the first four games without a 32 year old guy coming off an ACL. Until proven otherwise I would not expect amazing things from him until the BYE week anyway.

Julian Edelman says hi.McCarron caught 50 passes in his entire college career.
I am aware of his measurables. I am also aware they mean not much to the point where he is the least likely out of all WRs to make it.
People should stop talking about measurables a year (or even more) after a player has been drafted. This is the most generic way to compare players which makes it the least useful to speculate about their chances to make a roster. It has it's place during the draft process due to the lack of other ways to project. Once players are on a roster the coaches know usually pretty soon what they got in their hands.
But it doesn't matter. We go through this every year. Remember Mark Harrison and how hyped people were before 2014 about his numbers and potential? Yeah..
So your argument is that because Julian Edelman changed position and develops into a receiver that the actual quality playing of football at the college level any unproductive college WR particularly ones that are just 5’9” is irrelevant?Julian Edelman says hi.
Argument is the fact he caught 50 passes is that he's further along in his development than Julian was at the same time.So your argument is that because Julian Edelman changed position and develops into a receiver that the actual quality playing of football at the college level any unproductive college WR particularly ones that are just 5’9” is irrelevant?
I guess we should draft a QB in the 6th round every year. They will probably become Brady.

Being unproductive at a position really isn’t being further along than not having played it.Argument is the fact he caught 50 passes is that he's further along in his development than Julian was at the same time.
Also let's not discount Welkers heap of praise.
They completed 780 passes while he was there and he caught 50 of them.In a run based offense at Iowa.

That’s roughly 1 per game out of 16 per game.
So the fact that he couldn’t get on the field has no impact on his ability?Your really going to count the first 3 years mccarron was there where he didn’t crack the starting lineup? His only full season as a starter he caught 42 of the 175 team completions.
