Rumored trade offers for Gronk

I was worried about these rumors...until I read that Princess Albert Breer was behind them.
I would buy the rumor if it was just the 49ers mentioned but no way am I believing that Belichick would be stupid enough to trade him to a team in the conference.

Its still not over.

I believe that Gronk will ask and get a new contract extension that BB is totally against. Then BB will retire after this season. Who needs this crap? The sheer fact that BB was ready to ship Gronkie off is proof that he is all business and no nonsense. BB runs this team like a US Navy ship. Act right or face the consequences.

Brady threatening to hold out because Robbie wants more money is a slap in the face. In BBs world you honor what you agree to unless the team decides to reward your service and up the ante for you. Gronks current contract is plenty good enough. To me this all began when Shannon Sharpe on TV laughing how the Patriots were taking advantage of Gronk and that his contract was not befitting a player of Gronks stature. Probably the only time Sharpe ever complimented a NE player, but really the ulterior motive was to cause division and start a 5hitstorm.

The team's roster strategy revolves around Brady, as it should.

The team COULD have traded Brady and kept JAG. Instead, the team chose to try for another AFC championship and another chance at the Super Bowl.

The team has CHOSEN to go with Brady for another 2 years (could be more, but unlikely).

The Belichick and hopefully Josh will have the challenge of being competitive with someone else at QB, without Brady, Gronk and Edelman.

In the meantime, Brady will NOT be treated as Just Another Player. He's not, and he knows it. Brady can retire at any time. The choice is his.

Its still not over.

The transfer of a HOF QB is delicate. See Farve. See Montana.

Brady has to leave on his own. Its the only way. Thats why his wishy washy will I play or not is BS.

I agree with the first paragraph, but not the second.

Why is it BS for Brady to decide whether he want to play another year or two? He can leave on his own terms whenever he wants.
=======
As an aside, I would counsel against an extension for Brady, unless BRADY insists. Give him (and Gronk) more money for 2018 and 2019, but not after that.

My gut says that Brady would be fine with a 2019 victory tour of the league with a team that is competitive for another ring.

You don't know crap about "BB's world".
Freakin' poser.
Youre full of ****.

How does your gut make something up and think Brady would be fine with it despite him
Saying otherwise?

Enough with the drama. It boils down to dollars allocated per position group, value of extending a deal to gain flexibility, and market value of a player. The cap went up substantially since Gronk signed his deal in 2012. They cleared cap space for this after the season.

Gronk is 29 and healthy coming into camp. There's only $4 million left in dead money on his deal. He's due for an extension.

It’s pretty clear Gronk won’t finish his career with NE. He has to feel unwanted. I think he bails once Brady retires. I am looking closely at Gronk’s extension to see how many years it’s for - it will say a lot about when Brady is thinking about hanging em’ up. I am sure the two are discussing leaving the patriots at the same time.

This is guess work.

In my day people use to look for fake news in the gossip columns.

In my day people use to verify stories before releasing them.

In my day other reporters were not sources, they were just other reporters.

Kontra, the guy has not been happy here for a while. I remember his family butting heads with NE regarding his injuries a few years ago.
I’m not sure he’s playing many more seasons. If someone offers a Hershel Walker package for a guy who may hang it up in two years it’s gotta make you think.

Seemed to me Gronk didn't want the Patriots first.

A Hershel Walker deal?!? That was an 18-player deal involving Walker and three picks from the Cowboys for 8 draft picks from the Vikings and five veteran players. Herschel Walker trade - Wikipedia

Who is offering the New England Patriots 8 draft picks and five veteran players for Gronk and 4 picks?

Belichick traded Drew Bledsoe to Buffalo.

Maybe, but if you consider the following:

-Gronk’s family upset with the Patriots over handling of his injuries, including rushing him back from at least one;

-Gronk getting called out by BB in front of his team for his use of Alex Guerrero;

-Gronk telling Amendola to be “free and happy” in a tweet; and

-Rumors of NE shopping Gronk around,

it doesn’t bode well for Gronk being here long term, whether NE trades him or he leaves on his own.

How does that fit here? Brady stepped in to take over and Belichick did not want a QB controversy. That post fits in Philadelphia, not New England. There is no successor to Gronk who would improve on his TE production and blocking ability on the roster.

If he's not 100 percent bought in trade him.
We need a QB of the future.

If we’re gonna trade a superstar talent like Gronk...we’d better get more than just Jonathan Cooper, Joe Thuney, and Malcolm Mitchell in return
