You hit the nail on the head. We had two SSs, there were cheaper alternatives at FS to pair with harrison. But I wouldn’t call him washed up, after moving to buffalo and back to SS he still had a few productive seasons.
Milloy would've been the weakest link in the entire secondary. He was a mediocre player when he was released.
When BB got Rodney, we all wondered how it would work with 2 strong safeties. Milloy was now way too slow to play fs. BB experimented in preseason with 2 split safeties, rather than the traditional fs/ss , probably to cover up Milloy's weaknesses. Milloy looked slow as **** as I recall that preseason. I had been expecting his release. The experiment didn't work so BB cut him loose. Too many Pats fans way overrated him, he was a below average strong safety at the time and Harrison was as good as it got. BB was obviously proven right.
