It's Trent Brown.

If they think Brown can make the switch, what's the mystery?

People need to remember that the 49ers always had Joe Staley over at LT. So there was no need for Brown to play LT out there.

The thing that gets lost a bit is that the goal of mini camp is not necessarily to find the starting players but to get an overview of everyone on the roster. There will be changes between now and the start of the real camp in terms of some players so giving some of them more reps now can simply be just to find out what they can do and if they even have the potential to compete or whether to move on and take a chance on other players in July/August.

It might not seem that relevant but since there is only a very limited amount of reps available it is actually pretty important to filter out the players who will only waste reps and time as early as possible.

The only two things that will have a lasting consequence from mini camp is a) injuries and b) cuts. Everything else that happened will become meaningless come the end of July when the real prep work starts.

Yeah if not starting over a Pro-Bowler was indicative of any shortcomings the 49ers never would have traded for Jimmy G.

You are the one pivoting on it. I was perfectly clear the entire time on my perspective and have the posting record to back that.
Not really. You clearly inferred in your OP that you don’t believe that he’s taking football as seriously as he used to and called it his M.O. in the last year. You were very specific about that until you saw that you couldn’t in your right mind argue that his performance would suffer. If someone is checking out, their performance declines. That’s fact. You were very specific about that in your OP before you pivoted to the “leader” crap. Some more. Mind the bolded...

Where did the poster even remotely imply that he is "hating" Brady ?

Any post that uses that stupid "greatest QB of all time" line to somehow invalidate people having critical thoughts of Brady is just laughable. TB stressed for about 15 years how important every phase in the offseason is and how every rep is essential. Anyone who is not questioning what is going on with him and his shift of priorities over the last 12 months is just ignoring the obvious thing that is unfolding.

Similarly we got spoon fed the stories about how he always wanted to be coached hard. not being treated any differently and be a locker room leader for well over a decade now. Where has that guy gone ? Was he ever really there ? Or was all of that easier to take when it all aligned with his personal goals ?

None of the criticism that he is rightfully receiving for his decision to stay away from OTAs in light of his remarks in the past mean that people "hate him". You can be a fan of what he has achieved but at the same time wonder where all of this is going.
Indicates that you think football isn’t a priority for Brady. If it’s not a priority, his performance suffers. If someone’s job in general is not their #1 priority, their performance declines. I’m sure if I REALLY go back, I can also find posts in which you hit like, agree, winner, etc toward me and others saying that he needs to be there to help break in his new teammates.

After that, you pivoted to questioning whether or not maybe the greatest leader in the history of the game at any position is no longer a leader. Because he’s 41 and skipped something he’s done for 18 years straight. And it wasn’t just you. There were some other downright brain dead posts in that thread by other posters that will be great fun to bring up throughout the season.

If Trent Brown is ready to be our LT, I think that we will be very, very satisfied with our OL.

Again I wrote that "12 & 87 missing any of the voluntary stuff wont matter for their respective seasons". So just keep bringing up your weird conjecture about "what I truly meant" and I will just bring up the literal words that I wrote which contradicts your Sherlock-esque insight.

It was bad leadership from him not to attend OTAs and out of character for him as were those pleas for more appreciation. I never claimed that his performance would suffer from missing those 2-3 weeks that because that would be silly. That is what it boils to.

So keep bringing up through the season how I was not a fan of his leadership. That opinion won't change. But don't make it something it never was which is a question of his abilities as the QB of the Patriots.

It certainly strengthens any other possible OL positions and our depth.

Alrighty then. You ranked this post, in response to me, “winner”. Mind the bolded.

I can't believe the people lining up to say that there is nothing to be gained by Brady attending the OTAs. Brady himself has constantly preached the importance of showing up and getting to know the guys, his receivers, and working on football chemistry.

Obviously, Brady and the team are losing an opportunity to get better. This is clear. Otherwise, why even have OTAs. You people re making excuses. It is really kind of sad.

I get why Brady doesn't want to show up, but the team is worse off having Brady stay away than show up.

All you folks defending this decision...>Do you think it is better for Brady to participate or not participate in OTAs?

The answer is obvious.

This is on top of your OP in that thread. I can keep going as well. Care to tell me what you liked so much about the above post? Because the meat of it ("opportunity to get better" and "the team is worse off") seems to be pointing to performance-related factors, not just on the part of Brady, but for the team as well (which impacts Brady's performance). Again, you can say that performance wasn't something that you were concerned with and go with the leadership angle, which is equally as bad, but your activity and posts afterward go in another direction.

I don't see how this makes your point. Less practice means not as good. You also fail to quote my statement on how I think the Patriots will be fine, but the lack of practice with the new guys may show up later in the season.

A media guy I know told me he got texts from his insiders that Edelman is being suspended for 4 games for Ped use and he is currently appealing it. Take it for what it's worth.

One more note on that. If Edelman got caught with PEDs I am sure that Josh Gordon will soon get a letter from the league because he looks completely ridiculous.
