Tom Brady's agent says he plans to play this year and for many more years

This is a good example of the stopped watch analogy. Twice a day it tells the right time. This is what I hate about sports "journalism" these days. These guys will take any possible narrative, and eventually, it starts to get treated like the truth. When it usually breaks down against the forces of reality there is ZERO accountability. However on those rare occasions when it turns out to be true, massive chest pounding will be heard. So why NOT make it up as you go along when there is no consequences for it.

Read Nassim Nikolas Taleb's "Skin in the Game" It's about dysfunctional institutions & professions that suffer no necessary ill consequences from ineptitude or wrongdoing.

You could be right but this reminds me a lot of what happened in SF when people were in denial with the wheels coming off during the Harbaugh years. Deon Sanders took a lot of heat when he broke news about it and he turned out to be right.

Just think back to deflate gate. They convicted a man for doing absolutely nothing. The mediots just make crap up. They try to connect dots with lines that don’t exist.

And sometimes dots that don't exist either.

Never doubted this at all.
Conspiracy theories.

Dont think there was anyone who truly believed Brady was gonna step away. The odd thing was his Tom & Time ending and Krafts evasion when being asked directly at the owners meeting. Maybe Gronk is not the only one wanting a new contract.

I do think Brady will play here for at least three more years. I also believe there is smoke within the Patriots organization, when Brady’s agent makes that statement and not Brady himself.

Although I believe the smoke will disapate. Brady and B.B. have been the consulate leaders of this Dynasty. B.B. needs to somehow still show his iron rule leadership on managements side. He also needs to listen to his leaders a little more on the inner circle side.

Don’t break the system that has worked for so long. Just refine it and stop being so stubborn at times

I still don’t get people making anything out if the Tom vs time ending.
It was a documentary about Tom vs time and he ended it by talking about the challenges of being a 40 year old qb and how his motivation is what keeps driving him.
Somehow people heard what they want to hear, or better yet what creates controversy.

Brady almost certainly won't do this, but.....

I was watching a video of Hakeem Olajuwon from a few years ago (5 maybe) where he was teaching Dwight Howard some post moves. And Olajuwon at the time must have been in his mid-40s or older. And he looked like he could absolutely give an NBA team 10-15 solid minutes on any given night.

So I thought about Brady. Let's say the Pats move on from Brady after his contract is up 2 years from now. Let's say that Brady still can perform at a pretty reasonable level then. He'd almost be a perfect backup QB for a young stud. Loads of experience, ability to teach the kid, and you have full confidence that if you need him, he can still play. He could extend his career by several more years possibly if he was willing to do this.

I don't see it, because as a competitor, I think he'd either start or retire. But still...I think he COULD do this.

Even taking the competitive side of it out of the equation for a minute, I'm not convinced. A lot of times the best at what they do are terrible at teaching other people. Mostly because what comes naturally to them, doesn't come naturally to everyone, and they can't understand that not everyone can approach it the way they did.

Wayne Gretzky made a horrible coach, because he saw the ice in a way that he couldn't realistically teach to young players. Now, Brady had to work hard to get where he was, I'm not saying he was a natural talent like a lot of other GOATs, but I'm not sure that motivation or work ethic can be taught either. I think what makes Tom great is his obsessive attitude towards preparation. Even if he didn't care that the person he was tutoring was taking "his" job, I doubt he'd have the patience to deal with a kid not giving 200%.

So does this mean all the Patriot QB Scouting on Patsfans.com is all for naught??

Brady had the front office trade Garrapolo and now you guys are stuck w Old Man River.
Watching this forum turn on Brady as the rust shows more this year than it did in the Super Bowl will be quite entertains.

If only they'd chosen the guy who has set records for number of SB appearances and wins...

Oh, wait! Old Man River was the league MVP last year, and is that guy.

But you'll always have that one year 50 years ago, right?

We can thank the Colts beat writer Bob Kravitz for that. The way that he painted that picture was like the Pats committed a crime.

And what about "Spy Gate". Didn't Attorney General Arlen Spector try to get involved? Lol.

She actually has said she supports him playing as long as he wants to. People just ignore it because it doesn’t create rumor, story and conspiracy.

Arlen specter was a senator not AG

Yeah lotta rust in that record breaking Sb performance.

I don’t know what kind of fans we have sometimes. It seems like some are waiting for our Qb to cliff dive just to say,”I told you so”, when in effect that outcome is a total detriment to our team and fan base. It’s like them spitting into the wind and the goober goes flying right back onto their face. Brady played great in the Super Bowl, biased and delusional to think otherwise.

I understand that but he could have ended it with a slightly more upbeat scene. It was not a coincidence that the final episode was cut in a way to end on a somewhat ambiguous note.
