2018 Draft Prospect Thread

Don't know if he's been talked about already but Dorian O'Daniel from Clemson looks like the perfect late-round LB for Belichick to take:

STRENGTHS
Madman on special teams. Finished career with 48 special teams tackles and most of them in kick coverage. Has a gift for playing past kick return blocks and maintaining focus on the returner. Technically sound as tackler. Sees what he hits and drives upper body into target while wrapping to finish. Possesses agility for lateral tackles against cutback runs. Hustles to contain against perimeter runs. Offers versatility. Played near the line and matched up on slot targets. Redirects routes with force. Reads and squeezes from zone. Finished 2017 with seven passes defensed including two pick-six interceptions.

Playmaker. One of my top hybrid/star options (if only i had a team that is..;))

I can see bb being interested o’daniel.

Every now and then someone puts together the outside linebacker from Oklahoma and the patriots. Okoronkwo or something like that.

At first I thought...why? But after looking at the tape, maybe there is something there, especially if rivers is not 100 percent.

Agree with the QB side of things..

But OT and DBs look at Orlando Pace, then JT..

DBs you could argue that Jalen Ramsey etc..

This is just off the top of my head though but yeah QB was a stretch, Just that if i am going to trade up i want a freak of a player who can take over a game, like Chubb did against FSU

What do you mean look at Orlando pace or Joe Thomas? They were the first and 3rd overall picks when they were drafted! Somewhere well likely and hopefully never be drafting, and also hopefully never be trading up too. I’m not risking what it would take to trade up that high for any player. Just too much risk. Alsmot as many top 10 players are bust/mediocre as they are career all pros. No thanks

Yeah Okoronkwo is an interesting prospect, he's a pure pass rusher at this point, needs to work on how he plays the run at the moment. I'd like to see him in a role like the Texans use Whitney Mercilus

I personally have Carter above him mainly due to to his special team ability.

As we looked at Cortland Sutton, just wondering if we will look at Calvin Ridley as well?!

Also glad to see Braxton Berrios getting some love. Guy is Welker 2.0 but possibly quicker i feel.

Would love him here.

There are a lot of recievers i like in this draft: Christian Kirk, Anthony Miller, DaeShon Hamilton, Keke Coutee to name a few.

There's no real number 1 WR in this years class! Will be an interesting draft this year i feel in that department!

Ridley is a #1 he just hasn't had a qb to throw to him past 2 years.

Agree with the sentiment, but definitely not the rankings. Reed is okay, but Pettis is the all time record holder for punt return TDs. Phillips has the record for most total return TDs (punts, kickoffs, interceptions, fumbles, etc). Henderson isn't much of a receiver, but I'd argue that he's a more talented returner than Reed, as well.

Hughes is 1st/2nd kind of player, so I'm not sure why he's on a day 3 list.

Agree. I'm not condoning Galko's rankings. Just thought it's a decent list to work from, considering that the Pats may still be shopping for a punt returner.

Mike Hughes is the most interesting, a "perfect" replacement for C Jones.

If the Pats are focused one the punt return angle, I'd think Phillips in the 5th/6th, or Henderson/McCloud in the 7th-UDFA range would present more value than Hughes in the 1st/2nd (McCloud even took reps as a DB during his pro day).

Of course, if there's a way to swing it, Pettis with the #63?

I love Phillips. Gritty kid with impressive ball skills. He never quits on the field. Reminds me of Butler in that regard: not the biggest or most athletic, but he's a total dog (I mean that in the best way possible, hah).

Hughes, however, is a better corner. His technique and versatility are off the charts good for a guy coming out of college. He's comfortable in press or off, man or zone, inside or out -- he's really a rare breed in that he's a highly competent defensive player who can fit any scheme. He may not have the upside of a Lattimore or Revis, but I don't think he's that far off, either.

I'd love to have a top talent to pair with Gilmore. I still have some hope that Rowe can take the next step and develop into a solid starter, but thus far he's shown that he's usually a half-step behind. He's so close to making a good play over and over again. Ahh!

I think he was just ranking the returners, which is up for debate & Just saying that teams start to build & focus on those needs around that time. I could be wrong though.
