Bruins Lose to NOT lock down the East - #2 Seed

Maybe Florida didn't get the memo...they're eliminated.
As will be the Ruins in about one week from now, thanks to the Most Overpaid Goaltender in the History of the National Hockey League.

Tim Thomas was great for you guys.

Hope they can flip the switch for round 1, it's gonna be a tough series.

That's called bandwagoning.

Not necessarily. People root for teams outside of their home states for a number of reasons.

The Bruins have played great this year and have been a joy to watch. They finally got some young and fast blood to pair with their experienced vets, and a coach who doesn't let an obsession with defense interfere with development of good offense. The effect has been so entertaining! It was kind of a bummer how they slid into the playoffs (although in Saturday's game they looked more like they have during the season) and missed out on an easier opponent. Still looking forward to the playoffs (playoffs?!) though! Go B's!

You're a sad individual.

Not so sad that I felt a need to snake back to the thread at 6:30 this morning and edit my posts even though some of them had been quoted. A look at the replay and a simple "Okay in real time I had a different perception of the play" would have saved you some embarrassment.

Then why would you root for the Pats

For some people it could be a family reason (ie, Dad grew up in NE).

I guarantee you at least half the NE fan base in New England started rooting for the pats after they started winning championships. I have more respect for an out of stater who liked NE before they started winning super bowls than a New Englander who started rooting for them after they won. That’s just me though.

Not embarrassed at all. I edited the posts because they were a bit over the top. Alcohol and emotions got the best of me. That said, Rask makes that save more often than not, imo.

I'm not one to hold a grudge and I had no doubt alcohol was involved. I was not initially taking you to task so much as pointing out you simply did not call that play correctly. Rask allowed 2 last night that a top goaltender should make at least 8-9 times out of 10 but Vatrano's goal was not one of them. I think you seriously underestimate just how good a shot that was. A rocket just under the crossbar from a one timer is one of the toughest stops to make. I'm no NHL'er but I played goal well enough to get a college scholarship and that's just a brutal shot to stop. Dryden probably doesn't make that stop more than 1 or 2 out of 10 times and he was the best I ever saw.

The weird part about NHL playoff seeding... If you win only the #2 seed you have to play against the #3 seed. If you win the #1 seed then you get to play against the #8 seed. That sounds really harsh. You have a way, way harder road if you end up as the #2 seed since you have to beat the 3rd best team in the conference in the opening round.

Oh, I agree. It's not a criticism. I've just never understood why you would pick another team unless there was none around you. Which I guess is pretty common actually.

I guess it being Vatrano is why I refused to give credit. Still a little bitter I suppose. Lol. Clearly you have more experience than I, so I'll take your word. Anyway I apologize for for all that BS. Classic example as to why I no longer post in GDT. Cheers!

Playoff seeding doesn't really mean much. Look at what the Devils did. They sat their 3 best offensive players, top defender and starting goalie for the last game.

A win would have jumped Jersey up to the 6th seed.

They obviously preferred playing Boston or Tampa.

I think if you grew up in NY/Jersey in a Giants family and were looking for an AFC team to route for it wouldn't be hard to settle on New England. You certainly couldn't go with the Jete, Giants fans hold them in as much contempt as we do.

Agreed. Not a fan at all of the NHL playoff seedings.

Well, for me, I grew up in NY Giants territory but was really a fan of Bill Parcells. I never was a Giants fan but always liked parcells, especially his no nonsense coaching style. When he went to NE, I just followed him there. Plus some guys like me want to be different from others around them (ie, If everyone is a Giants fan, then I’m gonna root for someone else). It’s just my personality.
