Gillette attendance after Brady & Belichick retire.

It's kind of sad that some people need to make themselves miserable. It's really sad that some people need to drag others into their world of misery.

Sports radio talk mediots refer to their audience as "the fellowship of the miserable". That falls into the "sad but true" category, IMHO.

Hopefully some people wake up and realize we have choices in life and we don't need to make ourselves miserable.
At least sports talk show people are doing it to make a living and realize that approach creates listeners.
People on message boards spewing negatively are just doing it because it’s who they are.

Red Auerbach biggest mistake outside of hiring Rick Pitino was letting the big 3 get old & retire with no return on his investment.
Paul (ThanksDad) Gaston was the one who brought Pitino here. I never wanted him and neither did Red.

The Celtics traditionally kept, and even acquired from other teams, old guys and were successful, utilizing their experience. But the shocking, untimely deaths of two young stars and the terrible trade of Ainge, along with Bird's deteriorating health, sealed it for them.

Will you just stop trying to cheer us up?! Just stop it, we're liable to start enjoying ourselves and God forbid be happy...

The Chiefs had some outstanding seasons after Montana retired; ironically, if he'd stuck around they'd probably have made it to another Super Bowl.

I like the Pats' prospects after Brady finally hangs it up. It's a positive environment. But, BB's successor must not be a chump.

They will be one of 32. They will have every opportunity to compete and I would assume belichick leaves them in good shape short term.

FYI if Montana has kept playing at that point it would have hurt the chiefs.

Starting this awful doom-and-gloom thread.

Just keep drinking the Kool aid.

Other people are saying..... Kraft won’t let the team be bad.

Other coaches learn from Belichick

We will develop another QB

I choose to look at history.
The Boston sports fan does not support a bad team at the gate.

The sure sign that someone is out of arguments is they attack the person not the argument.

You were talking about cats.
Who would take you seriously?

That source deserves zero credibility and to think B.B. would trade brady is ludicrous. Kraft himself has refused this.

That article written in hindsight says trade them in 1988 a season the Celtics were the 1 seed in the east. Bird retired after 1992 and mchale was 34 coming off injuries and had 1 year left.
Making those trades would have made the Celtics worse not helped them.

Let’s talk the title of this thread.

I believe the Patriots season ticket waiting list will evaporate if the Patriots have a couple of poor seasons. I also believe they will have a problem selling out some games.

We can talk Celtics, Bruins, & Redsox in another forum.

I don’t believe the owner will prevent a team from having multiple rebuilding seasons.

Coaches who have learned under Belichick have struggled on their own.

Let’s not forget..... The 50 year season ticket waiting list evaporated over night & they had to drop some ticket prices to $10 to attempt to fill the upper balcony seats.

Why? It’s a stupid thread. I brought up my points and now that you can’t refute them do you want to go back to the stupid main idea?

I don’t care in the least and I can’t imagine why you would, especially at a time when the dynasty is still rolling.

Or not.

Other than hiring the coach owners have nothing to do with that.

Typically with terrible teams that had been mismanaged for years. If you want to believe working for Bill Belichick is a negative for a coach, go ahead, but I will laugh at you.

Mostly, who gives a **** about something that might happen in the future that has no relevance to me at all. IF the patriots have bad seasons and there is a change in attendance why would I care. More over why would I care now about the possibility it might happen some day?

Please find something better to do with your time and energy.

Yeah....I remember during the 2001 season...I went to the Jets, Colts, and Browns games at Foxboro stadium. I was able to get good tickets EASY. Not so anymore...

And when going to training camp in 2000/2001 at Bryant/Foxboro....I was at the ropes not 10 feet away from the coaches/players. Then in 2002 at Bryant camp....there were THOUSANDS of people and I had to bring binoculars.

I also was a Chargers season ticket holder 2 seasons ago...just because I wanted to jump on the list for the new stadium in Carson, CA....and it was a TOUGH year...I was able to sell all tickets..but lost about $200 or so by selling at discount for some games.

Everybody loves winners....just look at camp nowadays..THOUSANDS of people are lined up before the gates open..and you gotta run for a shaded spot on the grassy hill....

Nobody asked you for your opinion that isn’t worth anything. You don’t like the thread, find another thread to spew your positive message.

No, Joe, I'm a 25-year season ticket holder and a realist, not a Kool-Aid drinker. It's inevitable the Patriots will navigate some valleys after so many years at the peak. But the way you're characterizing it is unnecessarily pessimistic and dire.

Do you think there will still be a waiting list for season tickets or problems filling the stadium after Belichick & Brady retire & the team has a couple of 3-13 seasons?

I remember the days of the local TV blackouts of Patriots home games in the 1980’s, because the games did not sell out.
At the time you could get a ticket for under $20.

Guys I use to work with use to joke with me about keeping my tickets through the 1-15 seasons.

I also remember a urban legend about a guy who got called into work at a restaurant on a Sunday morning & he called all his friends and nobody wanted his Patriots tickets. When he got to the restaurant he put his 2 tickets under his windshield wipers. He was hoping someone would spy them & use the tickets. When he got out of work Sunday night he noticed that not only were his 2 tickets under the windshield wipers, there were 4 more under the other wiper.

I also remember when the Celtics were rolling in the 80’s & they had a 50 year waiting list for season tickets. Then Bird, Parish, & McHale retired & the Celtics went from a 50 year waiting list to no waiting list. They were selling tickets for $10 during the Pitino years just to try to fill the Garden.

I got season tickets for the Patriots for the first time in 1979 & gave them up after the 1981 season because my friend did not want to split them any more after the Ron Erhardt 2-14 season.

I purchased season tickets on my own in 1987 & I have had them ever since then.
I have kept them through the Rod Rust & **** McPhearson 1-15 seasons, but the tickets were less than $25 each at the time.

As much as everyone loves the Patriots, I believe their season ticket waiting list will dry up and they will have a problem filling the stadium if the Patriots have a couple 3-13 or 4-12 seasons.

I am getting older & I am fighting serious health issues at this time, but I have no plans to give up my tickets. The past 5 years I have split my tickets with a friend & we both have children who love going to the games. We also both do not have a money problem.

When I originally purchased sideline season tickets in 1979, the tickets were $10 each. When I purchased end zone season tickets in 1987, the tickets were $18 each.
My mezzanine tickets this season are $129 each.

I believe the first season ticket holders running for the exits after a couple 3-13 seasons will be the club seats ticket holders. They are the “Pink Hats” of Gillette. Maybe that is why they make them commit to multiple seasons.

I also know a few guys who have families & do not make a lot of money who are not in the club seats. Who could blame them for giving up their tickets after a couple 3-13 seasons at today’s cost?

First let me wish you some improvement with your health issues. That comes first.

I was a season ticket holder from the first game in 1960. Then in 1968 I left the state so my season ticket holder position ended. I haven't missed a game since then watching on TV or listening on the radio. True football fans stay with their team through the good and the bad. There will always be someone younger to pick up the tickets.

Again best wishes with your health.

One of those things is not like the others.

You believe the Pats will suck after Brady and Belichick leave and Boston fans don't support teams that don't win, using the Celts as an example. It is my contention that for valid business reasons they should not suck for long and in any case the Bruins and Sox are proof Boston fans have and will support a team that doesn't win championships. Maybe there is a discussion to be had regarding whether today's Pats fans are more akin to Celts fans of days gone by or Bruins & Sox fans but it's hard to have it when you keep moving the goal posts.

I am not an optimist who believes the glass is half full.
I am not a pessimist who believes the glass is half empty.
I am a realist. I believe if the service is slow it's time to order another round.

Exhibit A: 2008.

With the right head coach, we can win more titles after Tom.

But that time is still years away. Tom's not close to Chelios or Howe or Blanda yet. And no, Tom does not have to be perfect and amazing for us to win it all. His experience, knowledge, talent, composure and leadership are drastically more important than youth.

Yeah, that fall was precipitous...

Typical Kool aid drinker.

That’s the one thing I hate about this forum.
Too many bandwagon Kool aid drinkers.
