How is Jordan Devey still in the NFL

How is Josh Kline

Is the CTE thing diluting the talent pool that much already that there haven't been two better offensive linemen in the past five seasons who aren't on a roster

I... I don't get it

The offenses colleges are running in college don't prepare lineman (or QBs, in a lot of cases) for the NFL anymore.

Ridiculous. Only $7M.

They could win a Superbowl.
We almost gave Clayborn that

How in the world did the Texans pull that robbery.

From what we've been told of the numbers, a team could have signed Poe and Mathieu for what it cost the Giants to get Solder.

I wonder if this is what Shaq will cost us?

Without having the high picks (whether because of lost picks, failed picks, or whatever) in recent drafts, BB has chosen to go outside the organization in order to staff the defense largely with high rounders. As of tonight:

DL

Shelton (1st round)
Brown (1st round)
Claiborne (1st round)

LB

Hightower (1st round)
McClellin (1st round)
Van Noy (2nd round)

DBs

Gilmore (1st round)
McCourty (1st round)
Chung (2nd round)
Rowe (2nd round

Just finished reality check with BB . good luck, Danny, good life

“Look, Danny, let's be real honest here.. I know boys in Boston's high schools..“

Josh Kline came in at ProfootballTalk’s 52nd rated player on the top 100 free agent list, and has started 13 or more games in three straight years.

From what I've read over the past couple-three years, evolutionary developments in popular college offenses have resulted in college OL (especially IOL) not being trained, as much as they once were, in the types of reads and techniques that are required in NFL offenses. Similar thing with college TEs and blocking techniques.

So, it often takes more time for college prospects to "get it" (and even longer if they don't have a good OL coach when the arrive in the NFL). Those that do, eventually, learn what they're supposed to do, aren't necessarily the guys with the athleticism to be able to execute consistently.

And, then, there's the scheme-fit variable, too.

Kline has apparently been able to gradually build on the "primary school" education he received from Scar and become more consistent. Devey may not have the functional athleticism to execute consistently well on the OL, but he has size and apparently has figured out most of what teams need him to do, so he keeps getting employment as a backup, especially since the guys who are good enough to start are relatively rare.

The blocking thing is also why TEs who can actually block well, even if they're mediocre receivers, are still getting 3-year/$4M APY contracts at age 32, like Darren Fells.

Thank you spread offense and decreased practice hours for completely wrecking the development of players that are supposed to understand pro protection schemes and techniques when they get drafted.

Have Hill and Tobin's contract details been released? Do we have any space left?

If HOU front is finally healthy . they can make him look like the best DB around again (despite Lombardi questioning him as top player after injury). And then he'll go to the bank..

I'd guess it's pretty close.

Next up: Karras, followed by whatever 7th-round or UDFA OG Scar picks out of the crowd this April.

Or Bill decides to trade up for Nelson . and then even you and me can play LT..

Serioulsy though . hopefully this OL numbers finally translate to Draft as well and guys like Nelson start getting drafted where they deserve..
