Either way...I am good. LT is one of those positions that you can't get cute with. We have been very lucky with Bruce Armstrong, Matt Light, and now Nate Solder the last 25 years....

It’s slightly crazy that we’re talking about the Patriots potentially offering Solder the highest yearly average of all NFL offensive linemen and that still not being enough money.

Unlikely to get Fleming and Waddle for $10M combined anymore. Floor is probably higher that $5M APY for both, now. Higher for Fleming than Waddle, probably.

I'd take Solder for $13M.

If they could get Solder at 13m a year, I think they would jump at it. He might be the old "right time, right place" guy who steps into a contract that nobody expected.

At least if they don't re-sign him, they will be looking at back to back comp picks in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL draft, were they can over draft a few secondary guys from Rutgers.

The amount of money being discussed for Solder almost makes me want Cannon at LT. I know he wasn't great when he filled at LT in the past but Cannon now is a lot different than Cannon of a few years ago. I think he could be a good LT now that he's developed and he's under contract at a great price through 2022.

Just spend the money on defense if Solder $ gets out of hand.

With the current bidding frenzy for Solder, I think its safe to say that unless he wants to take 3-4 mill less here a year, he's gone.

I'm hoping everyone who calls on him have their limits as well.

I doubt anyone would be willing to pay him more than 14-15m.. so your 3-4mill less range is absurd..

Cannon looked & played like the RT version of Tyron Smith in 2016. Way more athletic than his LT experiment days. I think I agree with you.

Supply and demand. Aided by an ever-rising cap. The APYs on LT contracts signed 2-3 years ago - even Okung's from last year ($13.25M) - are already kinda outdated.

Anyway, from the player's perspective, it's probably the guaranteed money that matters most. Okung got $25M gtd. From a team's perspective, it's about how many years they can spread the guarantee over to reduce the annual cap hit.

The top two LT cap hits from 2017 were Trent Williams at $15.1M and Cordy Glenn at $14.2M.

I hate the opening day of FA....I just can't stand how slow it moves for us, LOL....I am like, "Hurry! Sign Solder and lets goooo!!!"
