Continue your condescending tone towards posters and continue to get laughed at.

Your choice

I rather try to educate people that seemingly have no idea what they are watching. Whether it is through written explanations or the rewatch threads.

I am fine with the downvotes from the few bozos who dont care to understand some of the most fundamental things in the sport they are watching.

You guys are the minority..

Not surprised that this goes over your head.
I understand the argument the pass rush couldnt get there so the secondary was at a disadvantage because they had to cover longer.
Watching the game could also prove the opposite the Quarterback immediately had one to 2 good options to go to every play.
Part of that is great play design of course but a big part of that was the secondary aside from Gilmore couldn't lock down their guy causing Foles to get rid of the ball a second before it seemed James Harrison was closing on him each snap.
It could equally be argued that the pass rush not getting there caused Foles to get to multiple reads.
At the end of the day we all agree the defense needs upgraded via free agency and draft combination.
No need to bash myself or other posters here because we all want the same thing a defense that will keep us in or better yet win us games.
The fact we all have different views and avenues and thoughts of how we get there shouldn't be a surprise.
We are all different people and I hope the front office of the Patriots are having the same discussions and arguments and the end result is improvement.

The secondary has been a problem since Revis and Browner left. And just because they won the super bowl in 2016 does not mean that it wasn't a problem then either - I was at the game and they got beat like a drum by Matt Ryan. I agree that the D-line is perhaps more important, but that doesn't mean that the secondary can't be retooled. And the fact that Belichick already tried to get Talib earlier this week tells me that Bill is looking to improve the secondary too. The Eagles coaches were laughing at the fact that Rowe was playing so much (considering they knew his lack of ability).

He' not wrong thst we need help on the line. May be even more help than in the secondary.

But to say wete fine at secondary is just a gross miscalculation of opinion.

Rowe had a good game after the first quarter so they must have been laughing at his initial assignment which was stupid.

There is no evidence that BB or anyone was onto Talib. Zero. Everything about the Talib situation came from his corner.

Loom man. I'm not saying we needed to get Sherman.

What I am saying is that the secondary isn't fine. Not by a long shot. Butler apparently wasn' good enough to make the field. Rowe was humiliated and McCourty had one of his worst games in years.

Fixing the line will help this. But we aren't "set" in the secondary.

Pats gonna roll with what they have, really? Roll with a bunch of turkeys in the secondary.

If we had a run defense that could actually get the job done there would have been no need to send additional players into the box consistently which in turn puts the secondary into a consistent disadvantage. The secondary is the last group on the list to blame.
You can argue about where it is in the list and that’s fine, but the secondary definitely deserves blame. When the Eagles go 12-18 on third and forth down, it’s mind boggling to want to defend the secondary.

We all seem to be forgetting LB, easily the worst position on D due in part to the HT and SM injuries. At least 5 new players need to be added on defense: two LBs, an edge, a CB and a nickel S.

Rowe was not humiliated but was the second best defensive back next to Gilmore. There were more issues with Harmon and how Foles was able to to manipulate him than with Rowe once he got reassigned.

McCourty also didnt play his main position. He was essentially anything but a free safety in this game because the coaching staff didnt trust the DL and the LBs to be effective against the run.

You wanna know what would have magically cured most of the issues ? Not Butler on the field but the 2016 version of Alan Branch. Add in Hightower and the Eagles dont score more than 20.

Yea and if butler wasn' so bad he was benched. That might if helped

There’s a lot of truth here. The front 7 doesn’t get beat up with those two on the field, especially HT.

Set in the secondary lmao. The same Rowe starting who’s former team was ecstatic and hit the jackpot in the Sb when they knew he was starting. Yeah roll with that guy as your #2 corner see how that works out for ya.

Im still to hear anything about a Pats' interest on him... No one has reached out to him yet, appearently

Im feeling like we wont be contending for his services and that pisses me off a lil bit

Rowe played well in the Super Bowl after the first drive, and the return of Jonathan Jones will keep the likes of Bademosi and Richards off the field. That said, they can always use help in the secondary. You can never have too many good corners, and McCourty and Chung are both on the wrong side of 30. But I agree that the front seven is a bigger concern; it's worth noting that they can resolve both.

Agreed. The entire discussion is akin to being in the water after the Titanic sank arguing with last breaths about why it went down so quick just before freezing to death. The defensive unit as whole, including the coaching staff & game plan, is indefensible. There's more than enough blame to go around.

Dussault as usual sums it up well..
