Here’s an article on Memphis linebacker Genard Avery along with gifs. I’ve brought him up in the Gif thread but not everyone might visit that thread so I’ll post this here too. He’s big (6’1”, 248lbs), strong (26 reps), fast (4.59) and quick (6.90 3-cone). And there are some standout plays amongst the gifs. Check them out!
Tuls | Memphis LB Genard Avery is hidden gem of 2018 NFL Draft | NDT Scouting
That's the first LB tape that I've liked a lot.
I've seen some mock drafts that is having us taking Arden Key with either our late second rounder or even our Third rounder
I could easily see him as the LEO in this defense right out of the gate. His length and the how he uses his hands to set up blockers are both fantastic. I guess the one question that I would have about him would be is football that important? Is his weight going to be an issue?
Any thoughts on Rasheem Green from USC?
His teammate, the transfer from LSU Trey Quinn, also ran a sub-7-second 3-cone. Quinn might not be drafted, but he would be an excellent candidate for a UDFA signing. The wr from smu ran a6.57 in the three cone?
Wow! The book on him was that they doubted he could get separation in the nfl. I think he just blew up that book. That is unreal!

With reports that the Patriots have shown interest in Litton, I went back to review his games. He's got a long way to go, but right away his velocity and ball placement stand out, along with a quick release and generally good reads. He's decisive and shows more touch than anticipated. I think he's better than Josh Allen already. Of course, he does have some turnover tendencies, which didn't show up his first two years. His FAU game was particularly atrocious in that regard. I still think there's a lot to work with, since his biggest accuracy issues seem to stem from not resetting his feet before throwing.
Seems to hold the ball low, and has a longer wind-up motion and time. Definitely doesn’t set his feet well and turn his shoulders correctly. Height and weight leads you to believe he has some weight to still put on, and in an nfl program, maybe add more strength. Accuracy isn’t too impressive. Throw a pretty ball though. Nice velocity. Definitely seems like a guy with the physical traits you look for and would be worth taking in rds 4-6 depending on how the pieces fall.
I hate this team sometimes. They are in my head real deep. For example, isn’t the fact that we heard the team is really interested in Litton a sign that the team isn’t really interested in Litton?Yeah, I wouldn't take him earlier than with our 4th round comp, but the tools are there to work with for the right coach. When his mechanics are right, he actually gets rid of the ball pretty quickly, and he had really good placement on some long, long throws to the opposite sidelines. Those are incredibly tough plays to make.
Downsides: he's a bit gangly and awkward, doesn't seem to have great pocket presence, and turtles a bit under pressure. Who knows if that can be fixed, but I like him better than Mallett, who was another big, strong armed guy that we took in the 3rd. Who knows what Litton could be in another three seasons of coaching?
