2018 Draft Prospect Thread

@reamer @BaconGrundleCandy

What are your guys thoughts on Ogbonnia Okoronkwo..

Personally i think he has a very good chance of him falling to us. Has a very good step, very good spin moves, he's relentless and he can also cover RBs if he's asked to..

I have him as a second rounder and would be surprised if he fell any further than the second round.

Like the player, don't love the scheme fit. I think he's too small for edge here, but I don't have enough evidence of him in space to project to LB.

BGC this may be true...but Roberts and Harrison were on the field a lil too much for my liking in the SB.

Not to mention Hightower coming off an injury similar to Mayo's, and I think is almost around the same age as Mayo when he started to break down.

LB needs to be upgraded.

They absolutely do. That poster was trying to say I said something which I clearly did not.

Hightower will be healthy & not having him was huge.

We'll upgrade.

Talked about him a bunch in my thread. Def grew as a player & person. I like him a lot & it'll be interesting to hear what comes out of the combine in terms of teams asking him to do what.

Off the ball-edge type maybe? Could be a Rush type on certain teams I suppose as OLB?

He super athletic & verstaile. Array of moves & ways to get to the QB by getting skinny. Slippery. He just gets it done. Long arms.

One of my favorite draft blogs (after the NEPatriotsDraft.com - 2015 NFL Draft of course!) is the Seahawks blog. Here's a great look at Billy Price, who is my #1 center by a strong margin. How much work does Seattle’s O-line require? | Seahawks Draft Blog

I always go there.

Man Seattle's line has been so bad it's astonishing how much is on Wilson's plate. Also gives you a peek into Lynchs greatness.

Amazing teams with such bad groups don't double dip, even triple dip into strong position groups.

You could have built a hell of a IOL, RB, DB, DL Corp over the last 2 drafts.

Jaylen Samuels reminds me of a smaller Arron H... Seems to line up anywhere, is almost like rex burkhead as well.

I like that comparison

Should draw BB's interest but definitely bigger needs

i've been trying to find an Aaron H, comparison but dam it's been hard.

Jaylen Samuels could be a very very good player for us, he's a Swiss Army Knife!

As we know we could potentially be short at RB depending on how FA works out for us...

One guy in the draft who is starting to grow on me is Ronald Jones, and Nick Chubb.

Jones, is a home run hitter, with serious speed.

Chubb, is a downhill Blount type back.

Obviously we are very unlikely to target a RB in the draft due to bigger needs but whats everyones thoughts on these?

(also a big fan of Royce freeman)

I'd like both a scat like Jones or Michel plus a powerback like Freeman, Chubb, Scarbrough

PFF seem to be not big fans of DE Sam Hubbard. 88th?

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Hubbard never put it all together, but I think they underrate his athleticism. I guess we'll see who is right over the next few days. That DLine talent is pretty incredible, though. Ohio State has three draftable DEs in this draft, and the guys next year are even better (Bosa will likely be the #1 DE in the nation next season). Each of the three this year are intriguing for different reasons. Worth monitoring their performances this weekend.

This guy is projected to go in the 5th round...meet the player that BB will draft in round 2....

Late to the party by a week (or two) but I agree that people are overstating the lack of talent at LB given how on some plays you only have one of the field nowadays.

In theory McClellin, KVN, Hightower is a good group of LBs. Do we need some younger blood on there for development ? Yes. Better coverage options ? Sure. But that is a common issue among the 32 teams.

I thought the same thing when I saw they met or something

Kill me

McClellin isn't complete **** but he's a smidge above average at his very best

Definitely need a an athletic rookie LB that can step in and play serious snaps

If Hightower and KVN are both healthy -- and with this being the first season in a while where HT doesnt have to work through post surgery **** there is a better chance than before -- there will not be many "big snaps" left. Unless you think the trend of playing with fewer and fewer real LBs on the field will change this year.

Also personally I would not expect anything of consequence from rookie LBs apart from flashes here and there - especially in coverage. It takes the most talented LBs (think Shazier) quite a while to make the jump.
