What does the future hold for the Cat? Will he return to the Patriots?

Hopefully not. He's a good player but not worth whatever he will command.

Re-sign Burkhead and find another middle tier stop gap or mid round pick to fill the void. I'd much rather the team invest in defense than re-sign a RB who is approaching the age of decline and who doesn't really impact many big games. As long as this team is passing oriented, an expensive RB isn't needed.

If you can't trust the guy to convert 3rd and short inside the red zone, he isn't worth a big contract. Especially with glaring holes on defense

Would you rather pay $5 million next year to Dwayne Allen or Dion Lewis?

Burkhead is an idiot who can’t stay healthy and almost took out our franchise QB.

Dump his useless ass and keep Dion, the most electrifying man in football.

Rex Burkhead is an unrestricted free agent so the New England Patriots are not under obligation to re-sign him.

Lewis will be gone. James White will get a bigger role. We don’t need both.

I’d like to see Dion come back and more sets with Dion and White in the backfield kinda like what the Saints did with Ingram and Kamara.

They are both the same type of back though. I would prefer a more physical 1st and 2nd down back to complement White/Lewis.

They should not lose Lewis. I can see a team offering 8 mill though maybe ten

Redundancy is good because we need a "passing" back available at all times as it is a big part of our offense and running backs take a lot of abuse these days. I'd just like to see more instances of them being on the field together. I think it offers a lot of options and keeps the defense guessing.

I'd be good with a power back combo to go along with them as well. I think that would be the perfect stable. Burkhead and Gillislee were supposed to be that but neither of them really lived up to expectations.

Yup, that's how I'm feeling in general. You need redundancy in general because of injuries, but when you can use them together it turns things more explosive. Like how the Pats were able to survive when Gronk got hurt in 2016 because they had redundancy in Marty, but the few times both were out there with Brady the offense was unstoppable.

I also agree Gilislee and Burkhead were both a bit disappointing to me. Neither was bad, but neither looked like anything special; maybe it was the lingering knee injury but Burkhead looked really slow to me in the Super Bowl, especially in comparison to Lewis and White.

Ideally, I'd love to see Lewis resigned and paired with White in some sets, and another power back brought in for the tough yards (and a 4th RB who was also a power back, as injury redundancy and another misdirection option at the goal line. Develin, power back 1, power back 2, Gronk and Allen/blocking TE).

Really disappointed that more 2 RB sets weren't used, or even more RB/FB sets.
I wanted to see Philly's DEs stressed on both sides, and then let Brady choose where to attack. That was a matchup I thought that Bill & Skippy could've exploited more often than they ever did, because I felt that their lighter DEs would tend to rush upfield from their 9-Wide launchpad and therefore be susceptible to runs to their vacated spaces, especially away from their end zone where they liked to be more aggressive.

I’m all for a two headed backfield, but who plays the role of Ingram in this scenario? Would that be Lewis or White? ;)

Yep. For sure, although if Lewis actually comes back, I won’t be complaining about the lack of a bruiser, either.
