lolol it's stuff like this that makes you realize how dumb a sport football really is, when the line between genius and moron is a few degrees of an angle off a kicker's foot

I mean, that and a guy who played well in 5 meaningless games for a bad team at the end of the season getting the largest contract in the history of the sport

Blame ozzie newsome, who will be fired after 2018. Flacco effect.

BB trying something unorthodox on D in a key game can almost be expected.

Remember putting Rodney Harrison at cornerback (covering Marvin Harrison), not safety, and playing Ty Law at safety, not corner, vs. the Colts?

The Colts were dumbfounded. Marvin Harrison was blasted over and over and made one catch for 6 yards in the first half and finished with only 3 catches for 19 yards. Law had three interceptions. Rodney Harrison had a game-high 10 tackles, an interception and forced a fumble on Marvin Harrison.

The mystifying thing, of course, is that when your unorthodox strategy in not working, why won't you change it?

I'd guess that we won't know that, ever.

Would never work now b/c DBs can’t evrn sneeze on receivers

Philly had never faced a GOAT and this potent of an offense all year. Their lbs snd dbs were awful vs te’s and rb’s all year.

The Patriots put up 613 total yards. Do you know how many times Brady has done that in his career, regardless of opponent?

The Patriots scored 33 points - should have been 37 if not for botched kicks. The Eagles allowed 18 a game during the regular season and throttled Atlanta and Minnesota to the tune of just 17 points between them.

Don't even try to say that the Eagles' defense wasn't very good this year.

I looked at them. In fact there is a rewatch thread with gifs. It was Ertz.

It's bizarre. The Belichick gameplan, even against some scrub Jets team at midseason, has always been to take away a team's best weapon. Anyone who watched the Eagles could have told you their best weapon was Ertz.

And yet they constantly ended up in critical situations where McCourty was responsible for single man against Ertz and nobody was available for help because Harmon was forced to help Lee or Flowers or Richards run with a running back (understandably; look at the results when they didn't do this) or helping Rowe with Jeffrey early on because Gilmore was being wasted on Smith and Van Noy was being brought as a 5th pass rusher.

This was the case on both of the 4th quarter's monumental plays, the 4th and 1 (McCourty is rubbed off, Van Noy blitzes to vacate the zone, Harmon closes fast but is just a tad late because he's also forced to watch a wheel route that Flowers or Lee is getting beat on) and the Ertz touchdown (McCourty is left in single coverage against Ertz when Harmon has to switch to man against Clement and shadow him in motion on a telegraphed swing pass because no one else can be expected to cover him well).

Butler's presence would certainly have affected these plays by freeing up Chung for duties beyond Agholor. I don't want to say they wouldn't have been converted, because both were great play designs, but it would have been more difficult if there hadn't been dead weight on the field.

Most detailed speculation I've seen, although that doesn't mean the writer is closer to the truth than others. Even if this was the game plan, shouldn't it have been scrapped by halftime? Or by the end of the 3rd quarter?

The author of the article says everything was going according to plan except for third downs LOL.

Nah. Their pass d was mediocre at best, i spoke about this in the pregame threads and said brady will probably throw 60 times because of it. It slowed their rush, cox removed as predicted, and their wide-swinging one trick pony pas rushers would do little.

Timmy Jernigan is still a wild disappointment as a 1st rd pick who does nothing in games, which is something i also stated. Their d had a 100.5 passer rating against te’s/rb’s.I would have gone white/burkhead all night in 2 back sets.

Here is a note: the best qb they faced all year was alex smith and they lost. They should have lost to atlanta, too. The ball went right through julio jones’s hands.
Who cares what Philly's D ranked in the regular season? They played horribly. Maybe the Pats couldn't establish the run all that well, but Brady carved that D up. One could argue that the winner of the Super Bowl was the lesser of the two crappy defenses.

Not at all. I am simply pointing out brady was slow to start again, as collinsworth points it out on my tv sceen, and both d’s were subpar.

Shootouts break out all over the nfl every sunday. Foles came throwing dimes, brady did not. Just a fact, dude.
Sure. But we lost because of that ? Or that was as big a factor in us losing than D giving up 41 points ? Or we attribute all of philly's 41pts to amazing foles play but not a single snap of brady's slow start to philly's Dline or anything ? Also brady came out throwing well too, their redzone execution and poor choice of calls along with cooks getitng hurt didnt help. And see how hard Brady was hit by their Dline on that cooks hit by jenkins. Our dline didnt event breathe on foles. Its not the same. But you can believe it if you want. Brady threw to a lot of wide open WRs becaue philly's coverage sucked. But look where brady was when making those throws. A lot of them he barely got off with people almost on him.
Why is it so hard to at least wonder and ask the question why butler didnt play a single snap instead of justfying that he wouldve sucked anyways and we should also focus on our offense which sucked. ?
Even if the offense sucked in the 1st half and played well in the 2nd half, didnt the defense suck all game ? Or that is because foles was playing well all game brady didnt so our defense deserves no blame for the performance it put out there ?

Not buying Milloy was the sole reason.

I'll grant that it didn't help

In the first Bills game, Milloy had recent intel about what was going on in practice etc., which if you think of it, should be covered by attorney-client privilege and never divulged.

Where was the Commish then?

How in the world can the first half be blamed on Brady?

No punts, no turnovers.

1. one drive ended after Brady drove them downfield by passing, then they ran the ball 3 straight times, killed the drive.

2. Missed FG

3. Amendola trick play on 4th down.

Can't see how anyone can blame this on Brady.

was he inaccurate a lot and did he drop that easy pass?

did we kinda stink in the red zone? why is it that these plays don’t count in your world?

i also saw 3 dropped ints in the first half, one at the goal line to a covered gronk into triple coverage

every phase could have played better. the d needed 1 of the 4th and 1 stops, and i bet we win if we got one of em.

I'm going to be honest, you may be the worst poster in the history of these forums... And that's a tough bar to clear, buddy. Congrats though.

because i pointed out media darling ozzie newsome is an economic moron?

whatever you say

i gotta be honest, i am not sure you are as intelligent as you probably think you are

i agree philly’s d played horribly

ne never tried to establish the run. they didn’t need to against their feeble lbs and dbs.

anyone seen rex burkead or is he still missing?

Well...he could have caught that pass ...:D

you can joke about it but it was 3rd down and it is no better than a bademosi missed tackle on 3rd down

you guys are like goalposts
BB owes Pats Nation an apology for this debacle of a SB

lol

the commie guy above literally just claimed i somehow was the worst poster

funny stuff

you guys are like goalposts

And you are as clueless when it comes to the joy of being a fan as you are graceless in dealing with others. A touch of gallows humor, like a little respect, goes a long way.

The offense effectively scored 37 when you count the missed xp and chip shot field goal.
