Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

I don't feel like I blew my money. I enjoyed the city, the stadium and the game itself, when the offense was on the field. It was just unfathomable how bad the defense was, and that they couldn't do anything to fix it. Then to come out of the stadium and learn that BB was the one who blew it. Wow.
Not only BB blowing it, but the refs literally giving them 3 touchdowns. 2 that were on 3rd/4th which would have caused them to kick a field goal, and the 3rd happened on either 2nd or 3rd and long I think

BB trying something unorthodox on D in a key game can almost be expected.

Remember putting Rodney Harrison at cornerback (covering Marvin Harrison), not safety, and playing Ty Law at safety, not corner, vs. the Colts?

The Colts were dumbfounded. Marvin Harrison was blasted over and over and made one catch for 6 yards in the first half and finished with only 3 catches for 19 yards. Law had three interceptions. Rodney Harrison had a game-high 10 tackles, an interception and forced a fumble on Marvin Harrison.

The mystifying thing, of course, is that when your unorthodox strategy in not working, why won't you change it?

I'd guess that we won't know that, ever.

I don't believe Milloy was THE reason they lost 31-0. They lost b/c they started the year with new players and played like inconsistently the first 4 games
Good god man you've gone off the rails with this. With some of you guys I swear it's like a freaking cult. A couple of these other guys it's more or less what I expect. But you're usually at a higher caliber to be honest.

Thanks for posting this. I fear, though, that the discussion will be dominated by whining and know-it-all posturing.

probably. and then a bunch of insecure board bullies, whose lives revolve around this very board, will swoop in and tell everyone what to think since they have “been here longer”.

umm, did you see philly’s d? what did you think about the offense’s unbelievably slugginst start again in a super bowl in any easy offensive era like this?

How about the obvious from the beginning

Gilmore on Jefferey
Butler on Agholor
Rowe on Smith

So mind numbingly simple.....that is until you decide to cripple yourself

DUH.......freaking DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH

How f.cking stupid could they be?

Don’t answer, rhetorical question

agoholor would have destroyed a poor playing butler who was sick all week and then belligerent.

gilmore is our best cb and you put him on their best wr.

very simple

rowe and harmon over the top to take all 4 routes overrated jeffery runs

Jefferey made some catches that Rowe contested.....agholor and Ertz were wide open

no they were not, chung took out ertz until the concussion

never heard his name
or torrey smith’s all game until that point

People keep bringing up the secondary but they were not the problem from what I have seen. The coverage was usually tight and passes needed to be pretty precise. I also disagree that they were often in the wrong position. At least not on the majority of third downs.

The weakest link was the front 7 in general and he LBs more specifically..

exactly..no egregious blown coverages. meanwhile, philly was blowing the coverages all night, really

some of our fans cannot admit brady was outplayed by another qb in a super bowl

they think it somehow affects his legacy

foles was throwing dimes and it was a shootout, and we lost

No it wasn't. Agholor was getting catches left and right unlike ertz.

I’d say they both were. 9 catches on 11 targets for agholor, 7 catches on 9 targets for ertz. We had no answer for either.

When it wasn't working you obviously give Butler a shot. I mean you have to or else you're touching the hot stove over and over again and hurting yourself.

Go look at those keys drive in the second half. He had 78 yards. Also had Richards on Ertz on a key 3rd down. They where making it manageable because of agholor. It's still incomprehensible what bill did but the iggles sure liked it.

chung got hurt

Even if this was true, why was there no adjustments made?

It was a pretty fast death, from what I could see, over and over again.

as it was for the eagles d..oh wait, the pats offense only showed up in the second half, wasting all kinds of opportunities in the first half, as per usual

I thought it was par for the course and that we would come out in good shape in the 2nd half when the Pats made some adjustments at half time like they always do. I felt my thinking was right on the money when Brady came out and went right down the field and scored. And then...the defense took the field again...and was the same, or worse than what they had played in the 1st half. I couldn't understand it.

I honestly don't have a problem with the way the offense played in this game. Slow start? I guess, but it was the botched FG and extra point that made the score lower than it should have been, and that's not on the O. Heck, Brady got them ahead in the 4th quarter (as usual), but BB kept Butler on the bench and put the same garbage D out there and they couldn't get a stop. 3rd & long/conversion/all day long.

You buy a team was so emotionally distraught by one player leaving they lost 31-0? A week later they smashed the Iggles.

It's not like he passed away.

why do we always have to these things go down to the last possession AND the d has to be a hero of brady is the GOAT?

it is an offensive era and whiffing
in the red zone and settling on fgs to the point yet again bb does not even trust gostkowski (not have i, for years and years) so they botch a 4th and 5 later on, also hurt..

i agree the d didn’t do well but the eagles d was just as poor. i am just tired of watching our offense start so slow, while the opponent is attacking and playing like a good offenses do, for 4 qtrs.

it should be easier for offenses, harder for
defenses because of the rules. we also had a td called a td against us that cleary was not a td
