Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

What a completely ******ed game plan if true.

You play your best players. You never play Richards, ever, in no circumstance is it a good idea that Lee or Richards play any snaps in the Superbowl.

What's even worse is they should have known the game plan was crap at halftime, but decided to stick with it. Even when Chung went out they never played Butler. Total BS.

No ertz was. But agholor was pretty good too.

Again he made it manageable for the eagles. Just look at the drives as a whole. I was imagining if butler had been on agholor. Jeffery was being contained. The whole scheme change when butler didn't play. Like someone mentioned it created a domino effect.

Go look at those keys drive in the second half. He had 78 yards. Also had Richards on Ertz on a key 3rd down. They where making it manageable because of agholor. It's still incomprehensible what bill did but the iggles sure liked it.

I looked at them. In fact there is a rewatch thread with gifs. It was Ertz.

What is pretty despicable by andyjohnson and robertweathers is how they keep repeating unfair behavioral accusations about Butler despite zero evidence and a straight up denial from Butler, plus Belichick himself saying no misconduct. Despite all this these clowns keep claiming dirt that isn't there.
Malcolm won't admit to wrongdoing because hes a FA an BB would never throw him under the bus publicly.

Do you think accusing BB of football malpractice without knowing why Malcolm was benched is unfair? That's despicable

With all due respect... I think he is referring to what happened in the game immediately after the fact, not as a whole season. Unfortunately, there is a not an entire season of games ahead of you to work things out when it's the Superbowl.

I don't believe Milloy was THE reason they lost 31-0. They lost b/c they started the year with new players and played like inconsistently the first 4 games

Thats the whole point though, If you game plan to neutralize the run, then you had better make sure your secondary is up to the task. They were not.

And you're right - both the line and the linebackers were bad. Combine that with the poor secondary play, you get what we saw, the iggles moving the ball with impunity, and basically scoring at will.
The secondary play wasn’t nearly as bad as the front 7
The run gane put the secondary at risk in down and distance issues and the lack of pass rush allowed philly to call any route combination in the book and let plays take forever to develop yet the secondary was close enough to contest the majority of the throws.

I agree with the article about Bill’s gameplay going in.

What I, and most other fans, don’t get is why didn’t he adapt? It wasn’t working. We were getting killed. Chung should never have been on Agholor. On 3rd downs Butler should have gone in.

Gilmore/Jeffrey
Butler/Agholor
Rowe/Smith
Chung/Ertz

That’s the lineup we should have went to, especially on 3rd downs. Belichick needed to adapt once the Defensive gameplay was circling the toilet.
They made adjustments they just didn’t help. It’s hard to cover up a front 7 getting demolished with scheme.

For whatever reason belichick felt butker wasn’t an option so that change just wasn’t going to happen. It’s too bad because if butler hadn’t made himself persona non grata Or actually took preparation seriously maybe he cuukd have contributed.

Its one thing to come up with a gameplan. Its another to stick with it when non of it was working and expecting chung to be come better vs a WR or richards to becoming rodney harrison the 4th Q.
They made adjustments. They only have the players they have.

And beat the Bills in the last regular season game by.... the exact 31-0 score from the opener. Poetic Justice.
I got chills watching that game because I wanted that shutout really bad- and you could see that the Patriots players wanted it just as bad.
And the Bills were desperately trying to avoid being shutout, even when down 31 points with a minute to play.
And we freakin stopped those bastards. One of my all time favorite regular season games.

Chung also got hurt and had to come out twice for a couple of plays. Did we THEN go to our 2nd CB? Nope. We put some other JAG out there. I was at the game and we honestly thought Butler was sick or injured. Never in a million years did we guess that he had been intentionally benched. Unreal.
I feel bad that you blew your money for this garbage when they sunk their teams chances to win on ****ing purpose. Also the refs giving them 3 touchdowns which gave them 20 points instead of the 9 they would have had from them. A new picture came out of the first TD against Rowe and the guy didnt even have control when he hit the ground. Ball is touching the ground. I was going crazy live saying it wasn't a touchdown and what do they do? Call it a TD within 10 seconds. No way they were letting us win this game

The Eagles assistants were reported to have said it right after the game. They could not believe he was not in. They said they went at Rowe because they knew all about him from his Philly days. NESN reported it Monday - the word the Eagles used was “crazy”.

Actually, I was listening to some more of Didinger and crew. They again said the Eagles game plan was to stay away from Gilmore and Butler. If the matchup was wrong, they were going to run. They also talked about the Pats O basically doing what it wanted against the Eagles D, which they were not shocked by as Brady is the GOAT. The coaches kept telling their guys they need to hit Brady, hit Brady. That was the mantra on the last drive. I think in the end of the day, we are going to learn that BB just out thought himself.

I assume this is just a joke but but I have a feeling it is not...
No. He's credited with the 50+ yd run and others.

If BB deserves blame it's playing that chump. He's terrible

I don't feel like I blew my money. I enjoyed the city, the stadium and the game itself, when the offense was on the field. It was just unfathomable how bad the defense was, and that they couldn't do anything to fix it. Then to come out of the stadium and learn that BB was the one who blew it. Wow.

Right, but that game was lost because of it. This time it was a one game season.
Not buying Milloy was the sole reason.

I'll grant that it didn't help
