Content Post Dear Bill - Thanks for Giving Away the Super Bowl.

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

I absolutely love the argument ajohnson is breathlessly defending.

A) Butler let down the team so badly he didn’t play a snap.

B) Butler was dressed and he would have played if an injury occured

C) He would have played because an injury is an emergency but he didn’t play when a different kind of emergency came up, namely having one of the worst Super Bowl defenses in history, with overmatched players that were getting burned over and over.

D) Belichick would have played Butler only if he was forced to...except he didn’t play him when he was forced to.

Then you have the argument from authority constantly repeated by robertweathers, i.e, Belichick did something ergo Belichick is 100% right because he’s Belichick, and his false dichotomy that either you support Belichick’s irrational decision or you want a lackadaisical culture with Mike Tomlin...

On top of that you have Ivan using the Chiefs Game as an example that Butler wouldn’t have helped, when we had the best scoring defense in the league with Butler as the number one corner last year, the number one scoring defense this year from week 5 to week 17 including Butler being the number one corner when Gilmore was out and allowing 17 points per game in the playoffs prior to allowing 41 to the Eagles with Butler playing 100% of snaps.

The level of dogmatic nonsense people will go through instead of admitting hey Belichick has made controversial decisions before, he cut Milloy a few days before the Bills game, shook the locker room and we lost 31-0 as a consequence, he traded Collins after a win in the middle of the season, he shook the locker room and our defense got destroyed by Seattle at home the next game. The difference is there were still a ton of games to stabilize the team from those decisions and there’s no such thing here.

But hey how about that drug addict, drunker, coach punching, wife beating, nazi, ISIS affiliate, 9/11 bomber fellow Malcolm Butler!

That’s not true. Rowe took butlers place.
The gane plan did not include a nickel package with 3 corners.

How did the defense do against kc with butler playing?

So what is your explanation of what happened?

You're starting to be pathetic. First month they had that horrible 4 safety defense they ditched. Butler was starting CB when they had the best scoring defense weeks 5-17

1. I now see why anyone with a hint the Pats would go with a moronic 4 safety defense, or think of benching Butler, would immediately start placing multiple million dollars gambling bets (this HAPPENED)

2. Nick Foles was 6 for 7 on 3rd down throwing against Richards, Bademosi, Rowe. Any one of those misses would have been a punt instead of constantly giving up drives for points
How did butler change the kc game?

it depends too heavily on what Butler may or may not have done for me to give you a coherent answer to that question.

It also depends on what might have been at risk, which is balanced against the cost to those other players, and is unknowable if we don't know what Butler did.
So you are a "spare the rod and spoil the child" guy/gal?

I’m sorry but your black and white play him or make him inactive is naive.
If Jon Jones weren’t injured I’m sure butler would have been inactive.

But J Jones WAS injured and BUTLER WAS sitting on the bench while the D was getting KILLED by Philly and the D never forced a SINGLE PUNT.

How exactly could playing Butler have hurt AYTHING?

How could you not at least TRY SOMETHING, ANYTHING to change the terrible D. This is squarely on BB making a terrible decision, despite why the sycophants want to believe.

But you are acting like butler would have been a cureall. They played the same scheme vs a very similar offense and got torched just as bad with butler in there.

At least the Brady vs Belichick thing is settled.

Jesus.

HE DIDNT NEED TO BE A “CUREALL”

He just needed to be better than Rowe and Bademosi, which he’s proven time and again that he is, most certainly throughout the season and his entire freakin career.

My word.

Why decide this right just hours before the game? Did Bill have some sort of revelation on Sunday morning, “Hmm, that Butler guy that I have been watching all year long isn’t good enough to play today”?

I suspect the decision was made after the week of practice when it was determined Malcolm was not going to be helpful. That would have given the defensive coaching staff time to plug n play Rowe, Bademosi, Chung, etc into the appropriate packages and overall defensive game plan.

Because butler was not going to play except if there was no one rlse to put in.

I get that you think he could have raped bbs girlfriend and still should have played but teams are about rules.

We wouldn’t be where we are if B.B. didn’t run the ship the way he does. Either you consider B.B. a failure or you take the good with the bad because to say after 18 years he should have ignore a principle the franchise was built on is ignorant.

one series.

that's all he and the fan base needed. one ****ing series.

can you imagine if butler had played one series and they had gotten a stop in the second half?

No.

BB still didn't think Malcolm could help the team.
I think that's the bottom line here. Belichick is paid to put players on the field that give his team the best chance to win and Butler wasn't one of them.

It's entirely possible that Butler had a terrible week in practice because he was sick, or because he wasnt paying attention, getting the game plan or whatever, so Bill felt like he wasn't performing as well as the other CB's going into the game. We've seen Bill do this this sort of thing before just not in the Superbowl and not with a player as accomplished as Butler.

@robertweathers knows to keep this hawt take fire breathing thread alive as long as possible you got to stir the cauldron.,, this is all part of the healing process,,

It must escalate further.., we are still in phase one...
Its my hawt take vs the, "BB is an idiot and should just play players who don't give a ****" hawt take.

Bad example.

In that case, he was not on the team therefore was not in the process of preparing for a game.
Floyd was on a professional sports team, got drunk, drove, then passed out at an intersection. Belichick welcomed him aboard 1 day later. Do you genuinely think that signing didn't involve selectively applying standards or rules when assessing whether to sign a player? Obviously it's not a 1:1 comparison. The point is that rules or standards were bent to fit with the needs of the team (depleted at WR).

It had to be something big.

BB is not crazy. A minor offense he would hold Butler out a quarter or two.
Exactly. We barely even know what happened, which is why I'll reserve any final judgment.

Surely if the reasoning is petty what has Butler got to lose now by saying exactly so, him keeping quite for me is like a million ship horns going off in my man cave. Whatever it is, its definitely detrimental to a new blockbuster contract come March for whoever signs him.

Why is the KC game being brought up as a comparison re: Butler's presence?

Regards,
Chris

Like I said multiple time if it was REALLY BAD don't out him on the game day roster. Your pathetic attempt to rationalize BB dumb decision by bring up something serious like a rape shows that you have NO FB based reason for Butler to be on the game day roister and not play.
