I will be downvoted to oblivion and banned, but this dynasty is over

I’m excited about this offense in 2018 assuming Gronk returns. Adding Edelman and Mitchell? Yes please. We’re looking at a major overhaul on defense. We know we’re looking for a corner opposite gilmore (please Seattle release Sherman) but I suspect we’re retooling the safety spots as well. And DT LB should be high draft needs.

The schedule next year's very tough. Can anyone tell me the last time a team lost the super bowl and went to the super bowl the following season?

Wow, in a competition with one other Super Bowl loss, this is the worst loss. Scorching hot take there.

Also if I had to choose, I'd rather have that win in 2011 over this one so the Giants fans can STFU already. 2011 was a worse loss from the big picture implications IMO.

2011 had a worse defense. They got lucky getting that far anyway

As I said in another thread, this didn't feel like a Super Bowl team throughout much of the season. We lost Edelman and Hightower, Cooks was inconsistent as our big play guy, and the defense was giving up huge chunks of yards. Going 13-3 with a bunch of replacements and jags was an accomplishment on its own.

How can this loss possibly compare with 2007? That team was on the cusp of greatness and sports immortality only to have it stolen away by cruel twists of fate.

This loss? Meh. Our defense was a trainwreck and wishing for them to come together at the end was too much to ask. We need speed, speed, and more speed. That and a nose tackle who can anchor that line. Brown is not getting it done. We will win another title if we build a defense with a stouter nose tackle, Hightower, Gilmore, McCourty, and more speed at the remaining positions where possible.

It's hard to be mad about this Super Bowl, because we clearly weren't the better team. When Tom Brady goes into god mode and you still can't win because your defense dropped 41 points, you can't wallow in it too much.

We SHOULD have beat the Giants both times and were the better team both times. If we played 100 times we win 95-99 times. If we played this Eagle team 10 times we lose at least 6.

I couldn’t agree more. It was an amazing run, 5 Championships in 17 years, amazing. They have given us some incredible memories.

But sports is cyclical. Sooner or later dynasties end. I really think this was Brady’s last chance, and he did everything in his power to win #6. But what lost this game, is what is ending this dynasty. Defense.

I think it’s going to take years to rebuild this defense. And let’s face it. The window for this team is closing fast. Brady probably will never see a Championship caliber defense in his remaining years. Butler will be gone, so they need another CB opposite Gilmore (who was EXCELLENT!). They have NO pass rush, despite the 8 sack game vs the Titans (Which was an anomaly). Their LBs are putrid. Really good safeties in Chung, Harmon and McCourty. But their front 7 is a real weakness.

Then you have the dissension in the locker room, which I now feel is real. Butler was kinda proof of that. Gronk talking about retirement could be a result of that. And I can’t imagine Brady will be at this level for much longer, maybe one or 2 years. So they need his eventual replacement immediately. And probably have to use a high draft choice on that, when they really need to spend ALL of their high choices on defense.

This reminds me of the SF dynasty, which we all know ended. I think we are seeing the beginning of the end. I expect the Pats to be competitive the next few years, but this may have been Brady’s last chance. You NEVER know when you will make it back to the SB, if ever. That’s why this loss is the most painful (for me, maybe not everyone).

We lost to nick freaking Foles! I am curious to see how his career goes after this high point.

Overreaction, they just made the focking super bowl and almost damn near won it. We have high coming back and a young D, they'll retool and be right back in the thick of it for a couple more years. Some of you guys need a good night's sleep and some perspective.

Is the "dynasty" over???

If BB quits, Gronk retires, and Greg Schiano becomes the new HC of the NEP, then yes I will agree it's all over. Otherwise...

It wasn't until tonights final that I really miss having Garoppolo as our backup QB,He almost made it seem that this winning trend for the past 20 years might continue when Brady retires,It certainly still can but now we can only hope the Pats take a QB in the next draft who will be ready to be the next star QB of the next decade and beyond when the great one retires as Garoppolo appears he COULD be or at least has high potential to be a great one for many years

I don’t understand why some of you people don’t understand why we’re angry. This was the easiest way to get to the SB. The Titans? LOL. Bortles? LOL and then a BACK UP QB??? DISGRACEFUL. This will never happen again. Mark my words this team makes it next year and gets punched in the mouth by the Ravens.

Their dynasty is done. Poor Brady. Didn’t deserve this ****. 500 ****ing yards and still loses.

If schiano becomes HC I think I’ll be doing a bit more golfing on the wkends

Not to be a prick, but you're emotional. We all are. It sucks right now but once the adrenaline and other chemicals/hormones calm down, and the parts of our brains that handle rationality and critical analysis kick back in, I think you'll realize how silly this all sounds.

We were a few plays away from an entirely different tone here.

There is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the 2018/'19 season and onward.

Still had to play a great team to win it no matter how you get there, they didn't, simple as that, the other team was better.

You mean rigged. Two ****ing touchdowns called that were not.
