I couldn’t agree more. It was an amazing run, 5 Championships in 17 years, amazing. They have given us some incredible memories.

But sports is cyclical. Sooner or later dynasties end. I really think this was Brady’s last chance, and he did everything in his power to win #6. But what lost this game, is what is ending this dynasty. Defense.
I think it’s going to take years to rebuild this defense. And let’s face it. The window for this team is closing fast. Brady probably will never see a Championship caliber defense in his remaining years. Butler will be gone, so they need another CB opposite Gilmore (who was EXCELLENT!). They have NO pass rush, despite the 8 sack game vs the Titans (Which was an anomaly). Their LBs are putrid. Really good safeties in Chung, Harmon and McCourty. But their front 7 is a real weakness.
Then you have the dissension in the locker room, which I now feel is real. Butler was kinda proof of that. Gronk talking about retirement could be a result of that. And I can’t imagine Brady will be at this level for much longer, maybe one or 2 years. So they need his eventual replacement immediately. And probably have to use a high draft choice on that, when they really need to spend ALL of their high choices on defense.
This reminds me of the SF dynasty, which we all know ended. I think we are seeing the beginning of the end. I expect the Pats to be competitive the next few years, but this may have been Brady’s last chance. You NEVER know when you will make it back to the SB, if ever. That’s why this loss is the most painful (for me, maybe not everyone).
