What is not to like about Bolden?? A versatile player, who at the end of the game was able to give our depleted RB group a break for the toils of a championship game.. the consummate "next guy up" mentality.

Roster depth, game planning and great coaching is what sets the Patriots apart ( GOAT QB also helps)....

He was always a decent reserve RB, but went through a spell in recent years where he seemed to have a hitch in his step. Sees to have fixed that recently. Underrated receiver, very smooth.

He is a FA. He also cleared waivers after the preseason. If anyone actually wanted him, that was the indicator, in my mind.

In other words, he re-signs here, or nowhere, and if he does sign elsewhere, he'll be cut before the end of the season.

Vets like Bolden don't go through waivers until the trade deadline.

That may indicate the lack of ability of less successful teams to accurately discern player value. He could immediately help to upgrade to the ground game in Detroit, for example.

His ypa in 2014 & 2015 (3.2) was certainly below his 2012-2013 standard (4.9), but in 2015 he caught 19/30 for 180 yds (63.3%) and 2 TDs with a ypc of 9.5 yds. That was better than Dobson.

Unless he can play Guard, I'm not really sure about that.

Good point. The Lions' run-blocking has been perennially weak. Still, Abdullah is relatively small, and Riddick is more of a receiving back. Bolden would at least round that out, plus add his ST chops. I could see Quinn and Patricia snagging him for that on a 1-year, $1M deal.

For that matter, several of the Pats 2018 UFAs could suddenly be gone to either DET or Indy if the Pts don't extend them quickly.

Butler, Burkhead, Lewis, Bademosi, Fleming, Waddle, RJF, Marquis Flowers might all be poached by either Patricia or McD. McD poached longtime Pats' LS Lonie Paxton and Jabar Gaffney (and one other guy, I think) when he went to Denver in 2009.
