Matt Patricia likely to take Lions or Giants HC job (UPDATE)

Patricia is more likely to succeed as head coach over Josh but Josh relationship with Tom and Tom running his variation of the offense is the main reason I prefer Josh coupled with Belichicks age

So much for the "he'll never get a job because he's fat, has a beard, and wore the clown shirt" crowd.

It will be good for him. That seems like a positive situation that is getting better with a good GM and some talented pieces on defense.

For us, I think the future is bright. Flores would seem to be the likely successor, IF he doesn't leave with either Josh or Matt. As for vet coaches, how about Greg Schianno, who BB obviously loves as a coach. He's be a possibility too.

Meh.......I think josh is ready to move on from Brady

Good for Matty P. Flores is very capable. Only problem is Cardinals might want him for HC.
If he's smart, which he is, he'd be better off staying here as DC for a few years.
I think the track record for those who were coordinators prior to being HC is better than those who weren't.

Always good to see people advance in careers, make more money and be happy.

I really like Matty P. Seems like a genuine, no-bs kinda guy.

I love the fact he dresses like hes in Sons of Anarchy

There are some very nice suburbs around Detroit.

The city itself, its not far off from the original Robocop.

i wish him all the best if this will happens

could be Flores the successor ?

I wonder if coaches like Matty P, McDaniels (a last the first time around) and Mangini have a built in disadvantage starting out as a HC by only having worked at one organization and thereby lacking the necessary contacts for building a staff?
One of my concerns for Matty P going to Detroit is I think cooter is severely overrated and was actually part of the problem. If mp is saddled with him, and walks in under the idea the offense is off limits to him he may be doomed to fail. But on the other hand where does he find a coordinator, he really has no relationships outside foxboro.

I think this hurt Mangini because he had to promote a Jete asst tk coordinator who has a different philosophy and got stuck with Brian schottenheiner as OC.

Similarly josh was stuck with mike McCoy (who I think is awful) as OC and mike Nolan, his dc (again a guy without a lot of success behind him) who was gone in one year.

The advantage of hiring coaches who have works many places is that they have many contacts, and a list of coaches they are familiar with to hire.

It’s a big task to start a new job and not have assistants and coordinators who are on the same page.

I doubt he will ever set foot inside the city.

37 be super young for an NFL HC. There have been younger but not many. I don't think Flores goes anywhere due to that for this year. I would think several coordinators are in front of him and it isn't like there are a million NFL HC jobs open.

I think Flores is a mega mega long shot but the worry is what the rams felt about Mcvay.
They felt he was probably too young but they thought he was so smart if they let him leave someone else will hire him before they think he is old enough.

I hope so. But Arizona is still interviewing Flores for their HC.

If it happens, good for him.

Pats will be fine. Bill will probably promote from within and not even give him the title of D Coordinator.

He will have a more hands on approach till the new guy is groomed.

Isn't that what happened with Matty?

Here's looking forward to players favorite Flores good to know he's the main success of the red zone D.
I like hearing Mccourty talk about that.
If Josh Mcdaniels leaves he more more than likely takes Brandon Daly with him since they were together in ST Louis.

With Patricia going, the next head coach of the New England Patriots is not currently on the team.

Hate to have him go. I wanted him as BB's successor. Used to be a Lions fan back in the Charlie Sanders, Mike Lucci, Lem Barney, Mel Farr days. I might start up again if Matt does go there.
