Patriots Sign WR Kenny Britt (Edit)

Yes.

Cooks
DA
Hogs
Britt
.
.
.
.
Dorsett

Other open questions are MM's health and ability to return (which does not look good) and there possibly could be the situation with Hogs where he doesn't need immediate surgery and is "gutting it out" but does need surgery in the offseason. If there is structural damage and that is impeding this ability to catch the ball (more games like MIA) then they might need to put him on IR as well.

Ind of amazing that 9-10 months ago, we were envisioning a 2017 WR corps of Edelman, Hogan, Mitchell, Amendola and (TBA). And now, we may end up with Cooks, Amendola, Britt and Dorsett.

The Pats now have 3 WRs that were first round picks. Here is where they were selected overall in their drafts.
Britt 30th
Cooks 20th
Dorsett 29th

Meanwhile, at QB, the Pats have a 6th rounder and an undrafted free agent. How are we going to be able to distribute the ball to those 1st rounders with these bums at QBs ?!?

what's YOUR prediction on Britt's productivity? Curious since all these receivers signed during the season have very minimal to no contribution at all - Michael Floyd, Keshawn Martin, Austin Collie, Phillip Dorsett, Donte Stallworth (2nd time around)...
I can think of ONE of these mid season acquisitions who actually made an impact - Jabar Gaffney, and that was 11 years ago...
I have no prediction. Almost all of the guys you listed were not brought in to be game changing WR's. They were brought in, at low risk, with hopes that they could give us at least some contributions or better.

Kenny Britt is not going to jump Amendola or Hogan on the depth chart. If he can contribute more than Dorsett has (shouldn't be difficult), the pickup can instantly be classified as an upgrade at the fourth receiver position and thus a positive move.

Are you being whiny like this because that is just your natural state regarding all things Patriots or do you think Britt is somehow going to hurt the team?

At best Britt manages to be a contributor. At worst he doesn't contribute and no harm is done.

I'll say this much, he is absolutely a better player than Philip Dorsett.

I feel this way as a counter to the fanboys who think he'll solve any issues that arose Vs Miami. This is based on the myriad of guys who can't catch on w this system in training camp, no less in week 14 or 15...hope Britt is incredible, especially Sunday...they NEED this game

I don't know who is saying he'll solve all our issues at the position. I can understand why someone would say he might be able to use his size to fight off tight man coverage, which our current crop of receivers struggle to do.

That was kind of the hope with Floyd but after a promising start Brady stopped going to him after the Texans INT. Hopefully Britt can do better, we shall see. I'm not too optimistic but also not shutting the door on the possibility that he can
make a few contributions in the playoffs.

You should not set your expectation for Britt that he 'be incredible Sunday'. That is preposterous. If he plays and has 2-3 catches, I'd consider that a positive sign.

I "hope" Britt is awesome, but I expect him to be a non factor...

Exactly. Anyone expecting anything out of Britt after 3-4 day in Foxboro sets themselves up for disappointment.

Like I always say, stats don't matter, wins do. I don't play fantasy football so I don't care about Britt's stats. As long as he isn't responsible for a turnover I'm good. But who knows, maybe he can do something positive. Or, maybe he will give Dorsett a kick in the pants

I dont see fanboys. I do see whining though.

I see people calling it like it is with Britt. Lots of talent and potential. Can he grasp the system. And since the O as a whole kinda sucked VS Miami even if Britt came here and sat on the bench, sending a clear message to the other WRs that its time start "trying harder", its a win.

I'm not sure that he even needs to "grasp the system" right now. He'll more likely get significant reps for a handful of play calls that they might run with him on Sunday. Then maybe a couple more next week, and a couple more the week after, depending on how well he's executing the limited repertiore.

Here's hoping that we win the next 2, wrap up the #1 seed because Pittsburgh loses again and Jacksonville loses at least 1, and then Britt can get 70 snaps in game 16, targeted by Hoyer after the first quarter.

That would be an outstanding role, to ensure that no extra injuries from impactful WRs occur in that game.

Will be red zone target primarily I would have thought on a few selected plays. If it means the opposing D has to assign a taller DB to Britt, it may allow favorable match-ups for the rest of the WR corps.

Who cares? Gronk will be back, Hogan will be in better game condition, and Waddle should be ready to go. That's where the offensive improvement for the Pitt game comes from.

We need cooks to start balling as well.

Bold prediction..."Kenny Britt makes 2 key first downs and a TD on sunday" lol

Is there a chance that he’d actually be active? I would highly doubt it.
Dorsett backed up Cooks, Hogan and DA Monday, and got zero snaps. The bar is pretty low. So while it is unlikely he is activated, if they feel Britt can be difference maker in the red zone, there is a chance (admittedly a small one).
