Gronkowski Likely Facing Penalty From NFL After Hit On Sunday

If Gronk had just fallen on him that would have been one thing. But he gave a deliberate and nasty shot to White's head. Pretty disgusting. And with the NFL having to pretend it actually cares about player safety and concussions, there's no way Gronk is escaping a suspension for that.

The “soccerization” of the NFL
What? There was no phony flopping happening. Gronk deliberately went for the head out of out-of-bounds player after the play was over.

I expect Gronk to get suspended. and because it's the patriots, I expect it to be a 2 game suspension. It wouldn't surprise me if they suspend Gronk 4 games though because it's the patriots.
Maybe they can have the state attorney press charges like Montreal wanted to do with Chara.

There is no way a player deserves to be suspended for a game for that. But suspending Gronk for a game would be consistent with the stupid approach of the nfl toward suspending players.

One game minimum. That's all.

The routine suspension from games is a prominent feature of soccer.

don't think he deliberately went for the head.....hit him in the back and his head bounced off the ground

was a cheap shot fueled by emotion, but i can't say he targeted he head....kiko alonso targeted the head on a feet first slide from 4 steps away and didn't get a suspension

This is it exactly, if it was any other team that late hit wouldn't have made the highlights, but since it is a Pats player all hell will be breaking loose if he isn't suspended.

P.S.
FU Rodney Harrison, you should know your wrong when you agree with Grundy.
Rodney can express his own opinion without you attacking him as being Goodell's puppet. I felt like Rodney was being sincere and he doesn't deserve this crap from the fans of the team that he helped to put on the map.

Gronk's hit was not even a football play. It was a very dangerous violent attack after a football play was over. The victim was face down on the turf, the attack was a WWE style elbow to the head with the weight of a 6 foot 6 260 Pound man purposely added to the attack. If he had broke his neck he would be going to prison likely.

A one game suspension is absolutely needed. However, AJ Green threw punches and attacked a player a few games back and received nothing, after play as well.

Was it a dirty play yes - but you want to mess with a beast, there are consequences. I wouldn't go up to Mike Tyson and yell at his face, it is what it is

I was just looking at the replay. Whether it was deliberate or not, Gronk nailed him directly on the head. It wasn't just hitting him in the back and having his head bounce off the ground.

I'm not gonna crucify Gronk and act like he's some scummy human being for committing one dirty play after 7 years of being in the NFL. All the idiots on social media saying the guy should get arrested for assault and suspended for the season are simply being holier than thou, acting as if one action entirely dictates a man's character.

That being said, he was definitely wrong on this one, and should probably get a game suspension.

Gotta also say a lot of fans in here are really showing their true tin foil hat form, and acting like if Gronk even gets a game, that it's everyone out trying to get he Patriots.

Just stop it. Gronk made a dirty play. There's a new precedent with plays that are in this nature. It is what it is.

I had a feeling something was going to happen. Buffalo was taking shots at the end of every play by that point in the game. A couple out of bounds, a couple of dumps after the whistle. They were frustrated and it was getting chippy as hell. I kept screaming for the refs to control it, but they didn't.

The play was ridiculous - holding, holding, pass interference - and this soon after Gronk got called on a nonexistent OPI.

With all that said/conceded/whatever, what Gronk did was stupid and dangerous. He took a shot at the head of a guy lying on the ground. He's getting fined for certain, but if he gets a game suspension, well, that's on him, and it won't be because he's a Patriot and it won't be about race.

It'll be because he did something really stupid and uncalled-for.

Worried about a 2 game suspension. Sigh. It's always something.

Omg why am I getting sucked in to this trolls argument?

The hit from behind was BAD. Not Gronk like.
It is impossible for a bulls fan to come to a patriot board and be trolled.

he dropped his shoulder on his numbers......semantics perhaps, but targeting the head is a stretch.....the guy is what, 270? his weight drove his head into the ground

cheap shot, clearly let his emotions get the best of him.....but to say he deliberately targeted the head is, well, letting your emotions get the best of you

Great post. If he gets a game suspension, no big deal. Take it, get through Miami and move on.

We can talk about the league screwing the Pats (in this specific case) if he gets any longer than a one game suspension.

I do doubt it was meditated, though. Meaning I doubt Gronk was thinking "I want to give this guy a concussion."

A very dumb move on his part, but I'm getting tired of seeing everyone crucify this guy over it.

Well Gronk screwed up royally and the league will suspend him. Now the haters have their scandal to blow way out of proportion....Worst thing ever in the history of the game. Something every fking year. It's so predictable
