Drama queen..

Cooks, big win
Bademosi, big win
Flowers, big win

Allen, does his job well.. neither win or loss
Dorsett, able blocker, runs routes well and takes coverages upfield when called on, still under cheap contract for a bit.. neither win or loss
Gillislee, better pass protector than Blount, not much difference in terms of running ability, higher upside.. neither win or loss

Ealy, loss but was essentially for free
Marsh, loss
Man you are such a biased poster, you can be a fan of a team without believing that everything they do is gold. You are calling Flowers a big win, come on that is just a ridiculous assertion it makes your credibility questionable.

Are you going to tell me Jordan Richards was a good draft pick now?

Marsh came out of college at 255. Perhaps playing for Carroll caused him to drop some pounds.
Listed weights are not very reliable anyway, but Marsh looked thin and certainly could not hold the edge. I think Lee will do a better job there. I hoped that Marsh could bring speed off the edge but that didn't materialize.

And so the wheel turns.

Last year Coleman showed not to be competent enough to play meaningful snaps here and people were upset that it was Roberts that got cut and not him. This year apparently the mistake is to let Coleman go.

He plays in a different team with a different scheme. That alone makes any comparisons or what if scenarios pointless. Most players can be productive if they find just the right environment. Just because he has improved from being below average to JAG status doesnt mean he would have had the same growth here. Especially after he didnt show any for an entire year + training camp.
You value a player like Gilislee who has been inactive 2 straight weeks in one post and then devalue a player like Coleman not playing enough in a post on the same page. I’m sorry but I cannot take anything you say seriously, you have just proven to be a poster who has no objectivity.

Richards has been playing well.

With that said he's still a bust.

Take a look at how Flowers has added firepower to our ST and the price that was paid for him and there is no other way than calling his acquisition a big win. But then of course its only ST so who gives a ****, amirite ?

Thats because you have had no clue about what you are posting for years. Going back to how you were bashing Amendola for years until you looked so ridiculously moronic that you had no other choice but finally own it.

Also you lack reading comprehension and cant deal with nuance at all because at no point was I slighting Coleman. My point is that he simply is a better fit for the simple, static system that Seattle is running rather than all the additional responsibilities he had here. He wouldnt have developed to be a average player here.

In essence, it is the same naive argument that some posters have about trading JB to the Colts being a mistake. No, it was not a mistake because the player wouldnt be able to function the same way here as he can where ever he is now.

Gillislee was a cheap acquisition who is an upgrade over Blount in pass protection. Nothing more or less. He will have a bigger role when the weather will be colder and running the ball will be more important.

I consider myself blessed by the Football Gods every single day!!!
Minus one week in Feb 2008...

The one week in 2/08 did suck but I will take temporary depression over 1-15, 2-14, TV blackouts, bad coaches, cocaine and sexual harassment scandals, bad owners threatening to relocate the team and overall hopelessness.

It'll be interesting to see how this fan base reacts once this run is over. It'll be rough for people who aren't used their team being average...or worse.

Id temper expectations here. quickly re-watched the game yesterday. PS material. unless he developed dramatically in BUF Id be surprised if he plays. He does have some football blood and does understand assignments though incl. setting the edge..
Lee was a solid player in college, especially his senior year where we had a good defensive turn around with a new DC. USF was terrible the rest of his time there with bad defensive coaches. He isn't an amazing athlete or jaw dropping playmaker but from what I remember of him he sets the edge well, and has good power / strength to get up field. He's certainly worth a PS spot as he has the speed and size to develop. Hopefully he's gotten better and can make an impact here. I have very low expectations for him, but I'm happy to have a USF Alum on the Patriots again, even if it's a short stay.

A PS spot is fine but hes on the 53. As you says he not an amazing athlete.

I really don't understand whats wrong with Akeem Ayers.

Not surprised, one bit. Couldn't hold the edge and I was all over this from day one. Sometimes players just can't get out of that one-gapping mentality. What good is an edge defender if you can't seal the edge? As soon as Reilly leapfrogged him on ST, he was good as gone.

He might've developed more. He's certainly good enough to contribute on ST so a 53 is warranted. I can see him having success here because from what i recall he is disciplined against the run and can get up field at the QB. As someone noted he plays like Wise just maybe not as good but that is 2 year old footage. I'd imagine his technique and play has improved with the better NFL coaching. Obviously BB see's something in him and had info from Patriots West that he liked. See what the kid has to offer first.

This feels like an early acquisition of a 2018 off-season roster prospect. If Lee is active and plays well on something other than ST within the next three weeks, I may start believing that BB actually does have magic powers.

Might also indicate that we are close to one of VV or MM being considered for return. Per CBA no matter what Lee takes away a spot on the 53 now for 3 weeks, meaning he will have a 3 week audition before they can move on from him and open a spot on the 53. If you know you are close to a IR player coming back and need the spot anyway might as well use the time until then to check out someone intriguing.

Lacks an NFL physique
Just got pushed around in those few snaps.
It was a panic signing and Bill got hosed on that trade.

He looked like the skinniest guy out there, and he a lineman. That new Ricky castoff guy they just signed looks like he could've ate Marsh as a snack.

Marsh is actually a couple inches taller than Nink and about the same weight. Perhaps he just "played smaller."
Yes he is taller. 15 lbs lighter if you go by listed weight. That’s not “the same weight” as Ninko.

Soooooo, why not Ninkovich, I know it’s been discussed in here and by the player. Has to be better Lee, even as he gets up to speed.
When he showed up at Foxborough before his retirement everybody knew he was retiring because he dropped a lot of weight.

The question is "listed where?" At public pre-draft weigh-ins, he was mid-250s. While he could have lost 10#, it more often goes the other way once guys get to the NFL. Of course, that also means that Nink could've been 265+ by the end of his career.

In terms of the eyeball test, Marsh's extra length and slimmer shoulders certainly made him seem a lot lighter, but the actual weight difference might not have been that much.

If he isn't picked up by another team this season, I could see BB adding Marsh to the 2018 roster. He did look good on ST and he may be a better fit at LB, where more help is certainly needed. Remember, Derek Rivers and Keionta Davis return from IR next year. Some polls had Davis rated at or slightly above Rivers coming out of college. I would still like to see at least one vet at DE to help work with the young guys.

Bill Belichick is due some criticism for his failure to adequately replace
Nincovitch, Long, and Sheard but should receive accolades for reenergizing
our offense with players like Lewis, Cooks, Burkhead, and Hogan.
