New MSNBC article calls for BB's suspension

Belichick has track record of classlessness
Patriots coach has always been on over-competitive manipulator

"When you hear the New England Patriots are accused of sending a spy to videotape an opponent’s signals, do you think, “There is no WAY that would EVER be tolerated on a team coached by Bill Belichick?”

Thought not."

"Forget losing a draft pick or two if the Patriots are found to have violated the league rule against videotaping another team’s signals. Belichick, if he is at any way responsible, should be suspended for a bad attitude that has played out in ways that makes Terrell Owens queasy...."

Got it!!!!!!
Cousins,
I have the e-mail for the MSNBC Sports editor! I believe we have the right to a retort to Mr. Cooks' expressed concerns and accusations about the Patriots as the Pats Nation. I would say the Sports Editor needs to actually read through this material for a change, as I would say it is actionable and there is possible exposure to MSNBC. All you lawyers out there are salivating! Unless Mr. Cook has a brother-in-law who allows him to write for MSNBC for experience in journalism class #101, this very dangerous material with disregard to actual facts.

It appears that not only is the dude that wrote this stuff in more hot water than the "boorish" Mr. Belichick will ever be in if BBs' attorney views this as what is most certainly libelous slander. It will be fun to see Bill as the new owner of MSNBC. Take that Mr. Cook! Every morning he will tell his editors and chiefs, "We could do a lot of things better. Lets sneak somebody over to FOX with a great big camera and see if we can........"...Puuleeze!

I for one, will be dropping the sports editor of MSNBC a line. Gee, if a couple of thousand e-mails hits this guys desk, won't he be happy. I can see him dialing "legal" right now and saying "Da ya think I shoulda read dis foyst?". [email protected] is the address.

This has nothing to do with the "gray" area that is being investigated. This is a damaging personal attack.

P.S. Mr. Cook, Don't take it out on us because "Da Bears" lost!

Yeah I saw that and thought it was pretty bad .Last year BB seamed a little surly. Any ways he talked to the camera man and appologised for his actions.

That is fine he apologized after the fact but you might expect behaviour like that from one of the many punks playing in the NFL but not from the mature guy who leads the organization.

I like your idea, but keep in mind that above the actual article, it says in bold letters "Opinion"

Belichek is a winner no doubt. But it would be nice to see the guy shake hands like a man after games and not go around shoving cameramen for no reason.

He didn't shove him for no reason. Are you blind? Well I guess you are.

He had every reason to shove him. He just shouldn't have done it. He should allowed the police escort to shove the cameraman. That's what usually happens.

"Even though Belichick is far from being found culpable in the case of the Patriots employee wielding a video camera where none should be, the coach’s long history of poor sportsmanship means it hardly stretches the imagination to see him being **** Cheney in the NFL‘s version of warrantless wiretapping."

This was as far as I read. Now I feel abused (bordering on defrauded) for having clicked on the site and added to their hits. Welcome to the information superhighway where the demand for material outstrips the legitimate talent pool to provide any.

This team is approaching their home opener and arguably one of the two biggest games of the season, and this board is being overwhelmed with this crap. I really think the mods should step in and merge all videogate threads into one big sticky that those who choose to wallow in this can visit as often as they like to check the pulse of the global media and emerging troll or fan reaction.

Until there is something from the League, and not via ESPN's agenda obcessed anonymous sources but an actual statement from the league, these threads should not be allowed to render this board useless to those of us who actually care to talk about the football team.

AMEN BROTHER!!!! THANK YOU! Good to see another REAL fan who supports his team through petty acusations!

Isn't there a HUGE game coming up next Sunday night? Oh yeah, the SD Chargers who keep mouthing off about the Patriots lack of class. I hope someone on the Patriots makes a huge hit that knocks the snot out of LT during that game!

This is the stuff real fans discuss...just my op

I was psyched when he shoved that guy. I hate the media frenzy during situations like that. I can't stand paparazzi in general...after all, they killed Princess Dianna!

Chargers fan here. I'm not here to troll....I come in peace. Just wanted to see what you guys were saying about this videotape issue. I dont know if this whole story is true or not, I will defer any judgement until the league investigates. However, if it is true, this is really bad. Im not just saying that as a fan of an opposing team. It would be just plain bad for your organization, the league, and football in general. In fact, I really hope it's NOT true. We're not talking about an individual cheating (Merriman, Harrison, Bonds, etc.)....we're talking about an entire franchise. Hopefully, this will not be the case and this will be a non-issue by Sunday. Here's to a good game! Cheers!

Why is it really bad? You've done nothing to explain yourself.

PatriostsReign,

Just curious...if the accusations are found to be factual, will you still consider them petty?

He looked pretty agressive to me. Funny, I dont see other NFL coaches feeling the need to behave in that manner.

Belichek - Good? Yes, absolutely

Classy? No

I consider them petty, and if you look at my post history I'm usually on the side of opposing pro-Pats homerism. It is borderline cheating, and if it's against the rules they deserve their punishment, but then life goes on.

Why is cheating (possibly by an entire franchise/team) bad?? Do I really need to clarify that?
It's bad, but it's not that bad. Depends on the level of cheating. Every team does a few things outside the rules for a competitive edge, and this is along those lines. It's not like we paid someone to break Thomas Jones' legs.

It's already a non-issue. My belief is that Belichick had the guy film the Jets sideline with a camera that had no film in it. It was just a ploy to get into the Jets coaches heads during the game!

If that's true, its the genius move of the decade!

P.S. The Patriots & Jets have had an ongoing war between organizations for some time now. Very similar to the Red Sox/Yankes where Terry Francona was forced to prove he was wearing official MLB clothing under his sweatshirt DURING THE GAME! Same petty crap.

Well I'm sure he wasn't using a film camera, but a video tape was sent to the league, so there was something in that camera.

You're comparing a uniform violation to possibly taping another team's signals? It's not petty....it's a serious issue. I know it's frustrated that forum members are jumping ship, but this would be a significant blow to the Pats. Im not saying members shouldnt support your team (they should), but even if you support your team and coach, it would be a black eye for the organization.

The writer's assumptions are laughable.

CHARGE: Tomlinson said that, as a classy player that he is, he is qualified to judge BB unclassy.
ANSWER: No defense here. When someone publicly smears you the way LT did, then it must be true. Never mind that people like Jim Brown vouch for BB's quality as a person.

Bob Cook is a horribly bad journalist.

Also, LT apologized for what he had said after he had spent time with BB at the Pro-bowl.

Cousins,
Just sent this to MSNBC for fun,
Dear Sir,
I believe we have the right to a retort to Mr. Cooks' expressed concerns and accusations about the Patriots as the Pats Nation. I would say that you as the Sports Editor, need to actually read through this material, as I would say it is legally actionable and there is possible exposure to MSNBC.

Unless Mr. Cook has a brother-in-law there who allows him to write for MSNBC for experience in journalism class #101, this very dangerous material with disregard to actual facts. What is this guys' qualifications? Can any one just write for MSNBC without consequence?

It appears that not only is the dude that wrote this stuff for you in more hot water than the "boorish" Mr. Belichick will ever be in if BBs' attorney views this as what is most certainly libelous slander. This is a damaging personal attack. This has nothing to do with the "gray" area that is being investigated that EVERY team in the NFL does in some manner as I am sure you will concede. There is no proof that this guy was even on the Jets sidelines taking pictures as Mortensen says he was on the Pats side. If you were the Security Chief of the Jets or other teams supposedly being filmed, would you admit you weren't doing your job and this clown from the Pats staff actually got close enough to your coaches bench to take pictures of signals that........guess what, they flash on the field anyway? Wouldn't you fire this Security (?) guy? Supposedly "Deep Shorts" was there forever-and-a-day. What if "Deep Shorts" was a Mark David Chapman type of guy, or worse like one of the Soprano gang that could finger Mangini in the restaurant.

If the opposing Coaches are being watched, isn't it their job to be more scientific about this? With all the modern electronic surveillance and special lenses and cameras today, wouuldn't a shot from the coaches booth over the 150 or so people on the sidelines be more effective and accurate? Doesn't every team in the NFL take pictures of formations and schemes during the game and send them to the sidelines? Is that Cheating?

It's funny I don't see Bill Polian and his heavy influence and personal team agenda (talk about conflicts!) who happens to sit on the NFL competition board, scream that the Pats must have been cheating and taking pics during the 2006 Playoff game to get so far ahead of the Colts, only to lose late. If the Pats had won Polian would be demanding a congressional hearing after this "incident". Hasn't Polian personally changed the league rules to conform to his team and hurt teams such as the Patriots? Don't you dare say "no"!

P.S. Tell your Mr. Cook, Don't take it out on us because "Da Bears" lost!
