I like MM more than VV and think he is more impactful when playing but with the depth we have at pass catcher (include Gronk and the RB's) vs the DL depth VV is probably the smarter move.

I am a Offense before Defense guy by nature but not in this case VV is needed more than MM.

I think, depending upon health at their positions, that BB will feel he needs VV more than MM but I hope GG doesn’t get more playing time because of injuries because I’ll need a DD for games if the defense reverts to Carolina game levels.

Who would be available for trade? I can imagine better players, but not necessarily better available players, unfortunately.

McClellin and Harris might have their roles expanded beyond what was initially expected of them, but I still wouldn't rule out a trade. In recent years we've seen several deadline moves : Talib, Hicks, Van Noy, Ayers - each of whom ended up contributing quite nicely.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we've also seen Isaac Sopoaga and Jon Bostic during the same time period. An in season trade carries the same risk of error as an out of season trade, and it's happened before. I'm sure the team will do its best due diligence, and I wouldn't be surprised if a trade happens, but we need to be comfortable with the baseline performance using expanded roles for McClellin and Harris because there's a possibility that's he best we'll get.

Another complicating factor with Casillas is that the Giants are on their bye week. There’s no injury report from them this week to indicate where Casillas is in his recovery from the neck injury that caused him to miss the last 2 weeks of practice.
