Not getting in the middle of the Talib debate because there are points for both sides, but his cap hit is 12m dollars this year.
His average annual value on the contract was approx. 10m a year.
Game in game out who's been a better corner?Haha how people forget. Talib was elite elite in 2013, remember what he did to Julio Jones and Jimmy Graham? since he lefts he's arguably gotten even better, he's a superstar.
Read the post after you clicked. Care to add anything?Who should the Patriots have signed? Talk about a meatball of a question. They should have signed Pro Bowlers at every position.
Danny Woodhead
Talib was arguably better than Revis in 2014. Talib was so good in 2013 for New England that he single handily won us the Atlanta game, and made the pro bowl...some were calling him the best corner in the NFL. He shutdown teams number 1 WRs every week except for Josh Gordon.
He broke up the final play and got an INT on a one footed Julio Jones who 2 weeks later went on season ending IR. But as usual the superlatives are flowing.
I especially liked how he "shutdown" Steve Smith in 2013 to the point where Talib also said "Ice Up Son" afterwards to him. Or was it the other way around ?
I wasn't putting forth an answer I was thinking of starting a conversation outside of the obvious.

Actually, Talib's dead cap hit is only 2 million dollars this year, for a cap savings of 10m total. With a 13 million dead cap hit. At age 31.
12 million next year, 8 the year after, but with minimal cap hits.
At the time, it was a high contract, but Denver smartly structured it and took a chance on talent.
While I agree that Talib is a top-3 CB, a big part of the reason is Denver's front 7. QBs get full seconds more to deliver the ball against NE than they do against Denver.
Swap Talib and Gilmore, and Gilmore is top-3, too.

Next year's dead cap goes down to 1 million, for a total savings of 11m.
In 2019, he has no dead cap hit.
So, it seems as though the contract was structured pretty normally. If they cut him in the first couple of years they'd have seen a loss, just like any other large money pact given out. You usually have to dedicate a couple of years to the player before you get on the right side of the contract and can see a savings if the team wants to walk away.
You're not reading it incorrectly, but I think they are wrong. The structure of that would be asinine.
Here is another link confirming it.You're not reading it incorrectly, but I think they are wrong. The structure of that would be asinine.
Here is another link which I would assume to be correct. Denver Broncos Salary Cap | Over the Cap
Also Aqib Talib. He's making I think only 8 million this year and he might be the best corner in the NFL. Meanwhile, Gilmore is reeeling in 13 million
I thought of Talib as well. He definitely would have locked down a corner spot with consistency over these yrs. Him coupled with Butler and we're possibly not having this conversation about Gilmore.
The same Aqib Talib that seemed to get "hurt" whenever we played a game that meant something and could've really used him? No thanks.
All Talib would've locked down was a spot on the sidelines with his "injuries". I swear Denver paid him off somehow to not play vs them. Then he went there as a free agent. Seems suspicious if you ask me.
